OFFICIAL BUILD UP REPORT:

Banbridge will make their first ever appearance in the Senior Cup Final when they take on 12 time winners Ballymena on Wednesday 14th December at Ravenhill (kick off 7.30pm)…

Ravenhill appearances were a regular occurrence for Banbridge’s 1st XV in the late 80’s and 90’s when they dominated junior rugby in Ulster. However, promotion into the senior ranks in 1999 has restricted their appearances in recent times.
But Banbridge swept aside a 14 man Instonians team in the semis to book their place, while Ballymena saw off the challenge of City of Derry.

Coincidentally, Bann’s last appearance in a Ravenhill final was against Ballymena 2’s in the 1988 Junior Cup Final. There is little doubt that the Braidmen are favourites to lift the cup on Wednesday evening, but Bann’s recent form in the All Ireland League will give them belief that they can spring a surprise.
