Rugby is Nation Building, a well known phrase and now painter Laura Graham explores our sport on canvas.

Ranging in size from 10 inches to over 4 feet square, the paintings depict Ulster games, games of the British and Irish Lions, and an interpretation of archival material from the days before flood lighting was common on the pitch.

The work has been developed in response to the increased intensity and professionalism of rugby. The game has changed from the days when it was an amateur sport to the present, and it seems now to be ‘win at all costs’.

The question is, is it an uncivil war?
