To Play The Game: A History of Flight 571: by John Guiver

A comprehensive history of the 1972 Andes Flight disaster.

‘A perfect complement to my 1974 book Alive.’ Piers Paul Read

13th October 1972. A Uruguayan Air Force plane, commissioned for a civilian flight, crashes in the Andes. Among the forty passengers are a first-division rugby team, accompanied by family and friends. Hindered by treacherous conditions, the search and rescue efforts cannot locate the wreckage, and are abandoned after eight days.

Ten weeks later, two unkempt boys are spotted by a muleteer high in the Chilean foothills. One throws a note to him, across a mountain torrent: I come from a plane that fell in the mountains… In the plane there are still fourteen injured people…

Drawing on extensive original research, the author sheds new light on this extraordinary story from a perspective of fifty years, expanding on events before, during, and after the ordeal. His retelling is enriched by the accounts of those who didn’t return from the mountain, related through the eyes of their families, bringing much-needed balance to a story which has largely focused on the survivors.

John Guiver’s comprehensive account, which includes an in-depth look at the world from which the passengers came and an analysis of the possible causes of the accident, is a fundamental contribution to the history of this famous event.

Sarah Muirhead, winner of the 2022 Karen Walker Young Artist Award and the John Dalton Award 2022 has released five high-quality Giclee Prints. These limited edition prints offer an opportunity to buy an original, signed piece of art at a very affordable price.

These Giclee prints are perfect for blowing someone away with a present of an original, intriguing, piece of collectable art. These are certainly gifts you won’t find on any high street!

Great too, if you just want to start collecting art for yourself.

About Sarah Muirhead

Edinburgh-based Muirhead, a graduate of Edinburgh School of Art, is known for her dramatic figurative works.

She is an exciting talent who has exhibited in New York, Edinburgh, and London. Her work is included in many private collections, and public buildings such as Oxford University and The Leith Theatre.

BBC’s Kirsty Wark describes Muirhead as a rising star, “the wonderful humanity of her work is incredibly mature. She is a figurative artist who concentrates on every line and crease and blemish and displays an empathy with her subject.”

And Natalia Juruk Deputy Editor of Beautiful Bizarre Magazine says: “Her ability to capture the human form in sublime and unconventional ways is heightened further with her characters living just outside the mainstream world, creating a spectacle of dancers, tattoos and other forms”.

From the artist herself

“Art provides an environment to explore all things taboo. It’s as if the materials used to describe flesh and blood translate the subject matter into something academic, and therefore acceptable.”

“I’ve always loved the juxtaposition of wandering through immaculate, quiet gallery spaces and churches with sex and horror all over their walls. This idea is a thread through most of my work. I want to identify it in my work and own it.

“I am a professional voyeur, but then, so are all artists.”

Limited edition prints are genuinely collectable

These Giclee Prints are completely different from the poor quality prints you’ll find on any High Street. They’re a wonderful opportunity to start collecting art and supporting the work of independent, living artists.

Here’s what the experts say:

Katherine Oliver, Ad Sales Programme Curator at The Royal Academy

“everyone can enjoy and buy art in an affordable way… the key is to choose something you love and buy with confidence.” She continued, “it’s better to settle on a good example of this type of work from an
exciting emerging artist than to skimp and save to buy something second rate from someone better known.”

“There is great satisfaction in supporting the next generation of artists.”

As Christies say “a print is more than just a copy of the original. Fine art prints are something else, they form a close collaboration between the artist studio. Printers, the people who work with artists to produce an edition, are highly skilled technicians and are often artists in their own right.”

Amanda Sims of The Architectural Digest

“When it comes to art [1], the word “print” can mean a lot of things. First, there’s the real deal: lithographs, woodcuts, screenprints, and the like …So each one of their “prints” is considered an original work of art.

If you can afford this kind of print, they’re amazing pieces to display and collect and you’ll be supporting storied artforms in the process.”

No electricity, no internet, no water but still the largest, iconic footwear brand in Ukraine KACHOROVSKA uses Artificial Intelligence technology for its newest shoe campaign called “We Speak Shoes”. KACHOROVSKA begins a movement and will set an example for the fashion industry which will inspire the world with their creative bravery.

This new campaign is the first of its kind marrying fashion with Artificial Intelligence technology showing the world the KACHOROVSKA footwear brand is always “one step ahead”.

Alina Kachorovska, the brands creative director, has always looked to the future and continues to push boundaries delivering her customers new innovative styles and dramatic advertising campaigns multiple times a year.

The innovative campaign launched with four motion visuals and aims to set an example as a unique combination of creativity and technology as a new way to communicate to the fashion community. It will show its customers and the tech world the ever-changing art-forms a shoe takes to transform into reality.

The innovative campaign launched with four motion visuals and aims to set an example as a unique combination of creativity and technology as a new way to communicate to the fashion community. It will show its customers and the tech world the ever-changing art-forms a shoe takes to transform into reality.

“The idea of implementing digital art in the shoe campaign almost had fallen into our hands. At that time, there was a buzz in the global network about releasing various models of latent diffusion, a type of deep generative neural network for converting text into images” comments Vitaly Yermak, the campaign Art Designer

““We Speak Shoes” AI Campaign Stills from the videos – Courtesy Kiko Gaspar Communications

The brand tested all the most popular types and their resources to adjust the algorithm for working in the videos. They had to go through the whole process forward and backward simultaneously. For each pair of shoes, was created a mood board and visual matching its fashion style and then used AI to interpret it into the text towards understanding the clues augmentation, allowing to go back and precisely generate the needed image style This process was repeated as many times as needed until the basis was no longer a mood board but an interpretation itself in the form of fractal reimagining.

“During this period, while the campaign was worked on the videos with the help of a neural network, has been created about 290186 unique variations of the “KACHOROVSKA” shoe styles. The AI did what would have taken a person forever in 3210784 seconds. I believe we are witnessing the birth of a new era in culture. I call it a neo-renaissance, where there is absolute neo/innovative creativity that creates pure beauty in its highest essence” states Alina Kachorovska.

Alina Kachorovska – Courtesy Kiko Gaspar Communications

Last few decades, there has been an extensive growth of artificial social superstructures. As a result, creativity collided with dependence on marketing, commerce, taste unification, and all those globalization processes. It became overpowering. The interpretations were winning over newness, and creative bravery was giving into the audience’s “tastes and demands.”

As a visionary, Alina Kachorovska always been on the lookout for the next big thing in everything. So, the need for change had been broiling in the mind of the brands creative designer for more than a year. Alina realized that AI and its capacity for infinite variations is the engine of transformations and the vessel to transition to neo-renaissance, something new, something great. Alina believes we can all breakthrough our imaginary comfort zone and see much more. Such an exciting and phenomenal journey is unfolding before humans — millions of new designs and experiences through the opened portal of endless and absolute creativity — as described in timeless “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” one of Alina’s favorite science fictions.

And has humans, the head of KACHOROVSKA trusts we don’t have to be afraid of competition with digital complexity because with art direction and creative discretion are required even for AI’s variability. When technology becomes more available in our everyday lives and moves more in social networks, it will boost and forever change the entire creative industry and consumer experience.

“We Speak Shoes”
The brands core message “We Speak Shoes” communicates directly to footwear loving women of all ages and with its unique craftsmanship the brand will deliver its designs to ladies around the globe.

The new campaign represents a new form of communication — relentless, ever-changing artforms of oneself, manifested daily in our appearances and social interactions. The campaign keywords are Transformation and Technology, which in this case, is mighty AI.

Alina Kachorovska focal point for her footwear brand is on fit and from measuring more than 40,000 clients’ feet which awards the company an expert understanding of the anatomy and structural unity to deliver their customers a perfect match of style and comfort.

As a proud mother of three children Alina Kachorovska is dedicated to her family and her Ukrainian roots.

The company is constantly growing, improving, and reinventing itself in business and communication, even more so during the vicious ongoing war in Ukraine. During this challenging time, KACHOROVSKA turned its local success into support power for the country’s economy and took the risk to realize its global ambitions by expanding and launching to international markets. Santa Claus Worldwide Brings Histories of Holiday Gift-Givers to Life

Asheville, NC, November 29, 2022 — “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus” and a St. Nick and a Belsnickle and a Kris Kringle and other midwinter gift-givers from around the globe, and researcher and author Tom Jerman brings them all to life in his award-winning book, Santa Claus Worldwide: A History of St. Nicholas and Other Holiday Gift-Bringers.

Jerman’s book explores the origins and traditions related to a diverse spectrum of holiday characters and sets the record straight on what he calls “the most important event in the history of Santa Claus:” the publication in 1821 of William B. Gilley’s eight-page booklet, The Children’s Friend: A New-Year’s Present to the Little Ones from Five to Twelve.

Readers have called Santa Claus Worldwide, “Entertaining, persuasive, and in places hilarious!” … “a well-researched and enjoyable book” … “for anyone interested in the history of Santa Claus as a constantly changing, adapting, and evolving cultural figure” … and “a true delight for those wanting to know the historical facts and history of one of the world’s most celebrated givers.”

Jerman began collecting Santa Claus figurines in the 1980s as a hobby, and the sheer variety of Santa Claus incarnations he encountered fueled his curiosity.

“Santa is whoever you think he is,” Jerman said in an interview. “You can envision him any way you want to envision him; there are no constrictions on who can be Santa Claus.”

The product of years of exhaustive historical research, Santa Claus Worldwide is the first legitimate history of Santa Claus in more than a decade, and the first history in more than 100 years to provide a comprehensive look at the Yuletide gift-givers throughout the world.

Some of Jerman’s fascinating insights include:
– “Santa Claus” is not merely the American name for St. Nicholas.
– Jerman also corrects a significant inaccuracy perpetrated in 1953 by an eminent Berkeley historian, Charles W. Jones, that American author Washington Irving created, in effect, the American Santa Claus.
– The original American Santa was one of the shabby, unkempt, secular gift-givers known by two dozen different names in Germany who immigrated to America with German children during the early nineteenth century. One of them, Pelznickel (“Nicholas in furs”), became known as Belsnickle in Pennsylvania while another, Christkindl (“Christ child”), became known as Kriss Kringle (more commonly written as “Kris” today).
– The name “Santeclaus,” the bearded German gift-giver who descended down the chimney and left gifts in stockings on Christmas and a sleigh pulled by a flying reindeer were united in 1821 by publisher William B. Gilley in a book called The Children’s Friend, which disappeared from history until it was rediscovered in 1953.
-And so much more.

Ultimately, Santa Claus Worldwide proves, conclusively, the existence of Santa and his impact on our world.

“Santa indisputably exists as the symbol of Christmas, and Christmas represents our most noble virtues,” Jerman says. “Symbols are real, and they can be very powerful.”

About the Author
Tom A. Jerman, a resident of Asheville, N.C., has bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and journalism and a juris doctorate degree from the University of Utah. Employed as a copy editor with The Salt Lake Tribune between 1974-78, he went on to practice labor and employment law for 35 years. In 2015, he took early retirement to pursue his desire to write something more interesting and enduring than legal treatises.

A serious collector, Jerman has amassed some 4,500 Santa figurines and ornaments, and thousands of antique postcards printed between 1900 and 1910. The enormous diversity of figures — temporal, geographic, historical, size, attire, date of gift-giving, mode of travel — prompted him to write Santa Claus Worldwide, the first volume of a planned trilogy that will include a volume on the authorship of “The Night Before Christmas” and a volume on collecting Santa Claus figurines. If all goes according to plan, the second volume will be published in winter 2023, the bicentennial of “The Night Before Christmas.” The third volume, currently under construction, will be a guide for individuals who collect Santa Claus figurines and ornaments.

Turkey, roast potato and stuffing combine to make the perfect Christmas dinner forkful, according to new national research.

The study, conducted by online food ordering app, Foodhub, chewed over the nation’s festive foodie favourites ahead of this Christmas.

When asked which three ingredients combine to make the perfect forkful of Christmas dinner, Turkey (42%) roast potato (35%) and stuffing (30%) came out on top, with pigs in blankets (28%) missing out on the favoured mouthful.

Last year, Foodhub’s research discovered roast potato was the king of the Christmas dinner, with 57% opting for roasties as their favourite element. However, the spud has been knocked off top spot this year, as meat (18%), whether that be turkey, ham or chicken, has been named number one.

Festive favourite pigs in blankets followed narrowly behind taking 17%, while last year’s winner, potato (12%), rounded off the top three.

And in the classic debate, the UK has decided a Yorkshire pudding does belong with Christmas dinner, with just 14% saying they don’t treat themselves to a yorkie on Christmas Day.

While the turkey tradition seems set to continue, as 40% opted for the meat as their preference on Christmas Day, alternatives are on the rise, with a quarter of Brits (24%) choosing chicken as their Christmas meat and veggies taking up 7% of the vote.

In London however, turkey is on the decline, just 31% sticking with tradition, compared to 37% naming chicken their go to Christmas dinner meat.

What’s more, Yorkshire natives seem to have abandoned their own delicacy, with just 9% from the region naming a Yorkshire Pudding their favourite Christmas dinner element. The Scottish (16%) are the biggest Yorkshire pudding fans in the UK.

Emma Stockman, spokesperson for Foodhub, said: “We know people love this time of year, and one of the biggest parts of Christmas is the lovely food.

“Our survey revealed that after spending time with friends and family, Christmas dinner was the nation’s number one thing about Christmas, so what we eat has a huge impact on the day itself.

“We’re surprised to see last year’s winner – roast potato – knocked off top spot, but perhaps even more surprising is pigs in blankets again failing to finish as the UK’s favourite, despite its celebrated status”.

As esports continues to grow and to further expand its relevance, it has become increasingly important for media outlets that are covering sports to also look towards covering esports in order to be able to reach a younger demographic.

However, creating engaging esports content that this younger generation is actually interested in has proven to be quite tricky for many media platforms. With esports tournaments being held in a variety of different games and at irregular intervals, providing their audiences with an overview of what is currently happening in esports has become a daunting task for most. It is why many media platforms are struggling to start or improve their coverage of esports as a whole. Furthermore, creating content that goes beyond what any fan can see during the broadcast requires the content creator to have a deeper understanding of the game in question, as well as the necessary information and data to be provided to them.

The Esports Live Ticker intends to solve this issue and provide sports media publishers with an easy-to-integrate and expandable solution that will help them make the first step towards covering esports, or level up the already existing coverage. Further premium content and services, as well as the option to upgrade to a media widget that allows access to more in-depth match data, can be subscribed to on a monthly fee, allowing the Esports Live Ticker to be customized to the particular needs of the customer.

Bonny Leyser, Head of New Business of Shadow Esports, stated: “We are delighted to launch the Esports Live Ticker. Esports has exploded in its popularity, but there is still so much that can be done regarding its coverage. Our Esports Live Tricker allows more media outlets to create engaging esports content and reach out to a new audience that is increasingly straying away from more traditional sports. The tools and visualizations we create at Shadow and that are available through the Live Ticker are a tremendous help for them to attract and retain first-time visitors. Covering esports has never been this easy.”

• Four in five people say a traditional country pub is the best place to visit at Christmas
• Research reveals which elements make up the perfect Christmas setting

Sir David Attenborough has been voted as the UK’s most sought-after Christmas dinner guest, according to new research from the Chef & Brewer Collection.

The much-loved British broadcaster was top choice, with more than one in five Brits (21.3%) selecting him as their number one person in the world to have Christmas dinner with.

SunSquare Cape Town Gardens – first pet-friendly hotel for Southern Sun
Monday, 28 November 2022 – SunSquare Cape Town Gardens is a ‘SunPet’ friendly hotel in what is a first for the Southern Sun group.
The hotel’s General Manager, Richard Keet and his team are ready to welcome furry, four-legged guests as a new addition to their arrivals this holiday season. “We understand that for many people, their pets are part of their family, so travelling without them is unthinkable,” he says. “The location and facilities at SunSquare Cape Town Gardens lend themselves to welcoming pets, so the decision to convert it to a pet-friendly hotel has been quite natural and involved a simple refurbishment.”
Based on their proximity to the foyer and gardens, several rooms in the hotel were selected for the pet-friendly conversion. These were refurbished and fitted with hygienic vinyl flooring to provide both comfort and practicality for guests and their pets, to ensure a relaxed and enjoyable stay.
The conversion also included attention being given to the dining experience. “SunPets are invited to join their families on the terrace for breakfast, lunch or dinner (and everything in between) at our trendy Zepi restaurant,” says Keet. Pet meals can be ordered from the SunPet Gourmet Menu, which offers a range of nutritious and delicious individually packaged dishes made with real ingredients.
Operations Director for Southern Sun’s Western Cape region, Samantha Clingham says, “The SunSquare Cape Town Gardens team has done a great job of opening to the pet-friendly market, and we are excited to welcome a new profile of guest to what could soon become the most popular pet-friendly destination in Cape Town.”
SunPet friendly rooms are available at an additional surcharge of R250 per room per night, with a once off R500 non-refundable payment per stay. SunPets receive a welcome treat on arrival, pet bedding for the ultimate SunPet sleep experience, and access to a selection of bowls, mats, toys and other conveniences during their stay.

The clock is ticking – how ready is your business for the ISDN & PSTN switch off?

All PSTN and ISDN networks will be closed by 2025, transitioning all UK businesses to all-VoIP networks to mitigate the rising costs of maintaining legacy equipment. According to managed services provider Espria, millions of UK businesses are expected to be impacted, especially those who still rely on fax machines and landlines.
Andy Fung, Solutions Architect, Espria, stated, “Businesses need to address this issue now and avoid sticking their heads in the sand. It is going to happen whether they are ready or not. Decision makers should not wait until 2025, as exchanges are being phased out now.”
BT Openreach announced back in November 2017 its intention to switch off analogue and ISDN lines in 2025, affecting PSTN-based services and some broadband services. BT Openreach’s logic was based on the fact that since ISDN’s (Integrated service digital network) first iteration in the 1990’s, digital demands on networks for organisations and homes have changed dramatically, and the underlying technology needs to reflect and support modern requirements.
A rapid audit of your network is recommended to understand how many connections you have, of what type and what they are being used for. Leaving it to the last minute could result in increased installation costs and delays. Depending on the nature of your organisation, these could be anything from simple voice lines to DSL broadband, building alarm circuits or even all external connectivity to the telephony system in use.
“Organisations can get prepared for the 2025 switch-off because BT Openreach is taking a phased stop sell approach at individual city locations taking place between December 2020 to August 2023. When a location has met its stop sell deadline, then analogue and ISDN lines cannot be purchased or have additional features or changes made to existing service,” continued Fung.
“If your organisation is using analogue phone lines, ISDN or broadband services running over analogue lines, at the end of December 2025 these will be switched off and become end of life.”

These include:

• Analogue phone lines (including dial up devices, fax, modem, and PDQ machines)
• ISDN (ISDN2 and ISND30)
• Some broadband services (ADSL, Max, 2+ and FTTC circuits)
“If you’re still in contract with a line that is coming to end of life, like ISDN and PSTN, you need to start looking at your current technology ecosystem and get prepared”, continued Fung.
Espria has recommended the following the tips:
• If you’re renewing contracts, look to move to a future-proofed solution
• When you’re opening a new site location, consider IP based connectivity options
• Assess your existing telephony options, if you’re using an on-site PBX with analogue or digital inbound/outbound lines review the marketplace for suitable VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) options including IP telephony and Microsoft Teams.
“However, this also presents an opportunity for organisations to reassess their business communications as a whole. Implementing cloud phones as part of a wider unified communications plan allows an organisation to overhaul outdated communications infrastructure and save costs with comprehensive and targeted change.
“This is best completed and managed with the assistance of industry experts able to bring together phone lines, video calls, email, chat tools, file sharing and more. With the right assistance, you can improve your company’s communications, save money and seamlessly integrate all aspects of communications and connectivity,” concluded Fung.

This month, XIX Vodka, the premium alcoholic beverage launched by global stars and KSI led collective The Sidemen, is now being stocked nationwide in 300+ Morrisons stores across the UK and is the first time ever the Sidemen have a product in a UK supermarket.

The vodka (RRP £34.99), which sold out its first two online drop in minutes follows a series of hugely successful ventures for the boys including their global fried chicken brand Sides, and their annual charity football match which this year raised over £1 million for UK charities across the country.

XIX Vodka is made from premium wheat, distilled multiple times until optimal purity, then slowly filtered to deliver an unparalleled taste and finish. XIX Vodka is so clean that it tastes just as smooth straight, on ice, or your favourite mixer.

The Sidemen products have long been considered a digital-first proposition. Understandable, they’re YouTubers and the brands are mostly e-com only, however joining up with Morrisons means the audience is now also traditional brick-and-mortar customers, with products on the physical shelves allowing for an even bigger audience reach.

Research from Neville Johnson reveals 36% of UK homeowners now favour a contemporary American style staircase over a classic design

A staircase is much more than simply a connection between floors, it’s the grand introduction to our homes – so, ensuring you’re creating a stylish and sophisticated focal point for the entrance to your living space is key to guaranteeing an elegant first impression.
According to recent research by renovation experts, Neville Johnson, nearly one in three (31%) Brit homeowners have admitted to feeling embarrassed of their staircase when hosting to friends and family.

So, as the new year approaches, make sure to avoid ‘staircase embarrassment’ by giving your entrance an opulent makeover.

Premium fitted furniture and bespoke staircase brand, Neville Johnson, has revealed the next staircase trend which is expected to be everywhere in 2023 – contemporary American.

When selecting a preferred style of staircase, over a third (36%) of UK homeowners opted for a contemporary monochrome style, more than double of those who chose glass (17%) and dark oak options (7%), proving the American look and feel is on the rise when it comes to our home and interiors preferences.

Boston Newel Staircase

Bringing a contemporary twist on a traditional design, Neville Johnson’s painted staircase, launched earlier this year, features the brand’s expertly handcrafted Boston newel posts, and offers that American style trend, which also encapsulates that Sex and the City interior vibe.

Uniquely ornate, the monochrome staircase has been paired with a treble cluster of Neville Johnson’s bespoke Cherwell spindle. Painted in Sorrel white and finished with Jacobean Oak, this design is a fine example of how a staircase can transform your home.

Neville Johnson’s Staircase Designer, Gareth Betts, said: “A bespoke staircase renovation has the power to transform your home. Using the structure of an existing staircase as a base, outstanding results can be achieved without the need for additional building work.

“An important part of any renovation is to ensure you’re aware of the key glossary of terms that will help you to identify the elements of the home that can be transformed.”

Gareth Betts, who also has 21 years’ experience when it comes to interior design and renovation, has shared his expert glossary of terms to ensure a seamless staircase renovation:

1. A newel post is a structural element that extends below the floor and subfloor and is bolted to the floor joist.
2. The string is the structural member that supports the treads and risers in standard staircases.
3. The baserail sits on your string and has a groove which accepts the spindles. Should you want a cut string staircase, there would be no need for a baserail as the spindles enter the treads.
4. The balustrade is the railing and baluster that prevents you from falling over the edge. It’s also the collective name for the complete assembly of handrails, including spindles and newel posts. These can be highly decorative; turned, carved, forged, or even replaced by wooden or glass panels. They sit between the handrail and stairs and are also known as balusters.
5. The risers are the vertical portion between each tread on the stair. In open plan properties, this section can be missing.

With over 35 years’ experience in designing staircases, Neville Johnson is the market leader in bespoke home renovations. The brand’s furniture renovations combine the flair of the UK’s top designers with the time-honoured skills of traditional craftsmen, all brought together with your personal selection of materials, colours, and finishes.

Health and Fitness Travel, the wellness holiday specialists has compiled their predictions for the trends set to dominate the wellness travel industry in 2023 and the best destinations to visit to experience these emerging health-enhancing trends. Health and Fitness Travel has noticed a marked uptick in travellers seeking to enhance their immunity, switch to a plant-based diet and enjoy more affordable and eco-friendly retreats. With it being nearly 3 years on from the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, wellness travellers are still prioritising building resilience to disease with the help of medical experts and wellness therapies. Health and Fitness Travel has also seen an increase in demand for affordable retreats in the cost-of-living crisis that offer incredible health benefits for all types of travellers – be there solo travellers, groups or even families.

With their personalised wellness travel concierge service, they expect the following wellness travel trends to prove most popular in 2023:

Body Immunity

The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are still being felt nearly 3 years on. Health anxiety, accentuated by the extremities of the pandemic include Long Covid, have left people more determined to maintain wellbeing of their body. Body immunity retreats are not only an opportunity to travel but also offer meaningful solutions to any potential health worries. Keeping you your healthiest, physically, and mentally, these wellness retreats offer opportunities to also take advantage of the best medical wellness expertise in luxurious surroundings in some of the world’s most popular destinations.

Top 3 Destinations: RAKxa Wellness & Medical Retreat, Park Igls, Atmantan Wellness Resort

Plant-Based Retreat

A plant-based diet has appeared to have numerous enticing traits that enthralls more and more people as time goes by, 2023 is thought to be no different. It also appears to be a strategy to develop a healthier, and more nutritional diet, 39% of people in a recent survey planned to eat more vegetables on a plant-based diet.1 With more information increasingly being spread and consciousness to animal cruelty, by the animal product industry, is playing a larger role on morality with diet choices. Currently, it is assumed that 6% of Brits are vegetarian with 6.5 million Brits planning to convert in the future.2 Therefore, there will be a greater demand for learning how to maintain a nutritionally dense plant-based diet and more resorts catering to this with their menus and retreat offerings in 2023.

Animal Therapy Retreats

It has been found that being around animals can be hugely beneficial to mental health. Particularly in easing anxiety.3 Animal therapy can be used to target a range of factors in your life, depending on your personalised intentions for your retreat. It has been proven to provide comfort, reduce levels of pain, improve movement or motor skills, develop social skills, and increase motivation.4 Retreats don’t have to be completely rounded to animal therapy singularly however, the company of other creatures amongst other activities is still greatly advantageous. Whether it be a wellness tour, an adventure or sailing with the participation of snorkeling, a natural increase in mood is vital in a modern world where it is mainly appreciated through a phone.

Top 3 Destinations: Active Tour – Galapagos, Sailing Tour – Maldives, Wellness Tour – Iceland

Air-Free Travel

The effects of modern civilization, the abuse of fossil fuels, contribution to the ozone layer, and catastrophic effects on climate change; a desperation to be more eco-friendly and concern over preserving the environment, has unsurprising influenced travellers’ attitude to traveling. Furthermore, surveys from YouGov has shown that 53% of global consumers are seeking more sustainable travel options for their holidays.5 Although, travelling does not have to leave you with a guilty conscious, air-free travel is not only an accessible alternative form of travelling but it can be as memorable as the holiday. The embrace of slower travels makes the journey to luxury resorts all that more special.

Top 3 Destinations: Gleneagles, Lefay Resort & SPA Lago di Garda, Grantley Hall

Affordable Retreats

In the current cost of living crisis, for many holidays are last on the agenda when considering where to budget their money. One in three Britons have the intention to cut holiday spending as living costs continue to rise.6 This makes a change from the rush of holiday goers in 2022 being twice the amount of 2021 with the release of travelling restrictions post-covid. But even with the influx of daily expenditure pricing, many are still eager to get a holiday but are looking for cheaper options to accommodate their reduced disposable income. Therefore, more affordable retreats that offer value for money and provide tangible wellness benefits are set to be a big trend for wellness travel in 2023.

Top 3 Destinations: BodyBreak at Galo Resort, Fusion Fitness at Absolute Sanctuary, Sianji Well-Being Resort

Emotional Healing Retreats

Discussions around mental health are becoming regular, with a greater awareness for the range of difficulties faced by different people from all walks of life. That health is not only focused on the physical but also the mental and emotional. Emotional healing retreats bring the opportunity for people that are living with depression, anxiety, PTSD and trauma to be exposed to comprehensive wellness experiences and learn the tools to live happier and healthier lives. Top 3 Destinations: Sleep at Six Senses Ibiza, Resilience After Crisis at Park Igls, Embracing Change at Kamalaya.

Working Wellness Holidays

A great change from pre-pandemic to post is the accessibility to work online. A hybrid and flexibility within online working, in comparison to rigid in-office hours has seen an influx in people taking their work on holiday. Research by LinkedIn found that 39% of adults in the UK have worked from holiday in 2022 and 28% found that it positively affected their work ethic.7 The repetitive nature of working from home online has contributed to people’s angst to work in a change of environment. As the saying goes ‘change is greater than a rest’, it is therefore unsurprising as to why workcations were so popular in 2022 and looks like a trend that will continue to reign in 2023.

Top Destinations: Wellbeing Sabbatical at Kamalaya, Lifestyle Change at Absolute Sanctuary, New Life at Longevity Health & Wellness.

Addiction Retreats

So much of our time today is spent online. A report showed that in 2022, adults in the UK are spending an average of 5 hours online,8 that’s nearly a third of the time awake staring at a screen. It can be hard to detach from the online world especially when so much of our day-to-day life is so reliant on it. Therefore, a retreat away where you can have a full digital detox, can help to reset your relationship with technology, making it a more positive one. If you are looking to detoxify from other substances including alcohol, drugs, and smoking, then a change of environment, where everyday stress is relieved and experienced medical professionals are on hand to help provides the perfect environment to help you kick ill habits for good.

Top Destinations: Rebalance & Anti-Tobacco at SHA Wellness, Digital Detox at Pine Cliffs Resort, De-Addiction at Santani Wellness Spa

Alcohol-Free Retreats

During the pandemic there was a shift within drinking habits, it was found that heavy drinkers took to drinking more, whereas the moderate drinkers were drinking less.9 Many people found themselves drinking more than they would usually and are now looking to address their relationship with alcohol. Alcohol-free retreats offer the sober-curious the opportunity to Detox and improve both their physical and mental health alongside targeted spa therapies.

• Newcastle is the nation’s most festive city, according to latest research
• Geordies are more prepared for the season than people in any other city
• The city has three of the UK’s best markets plus an iconic Xmas tree
• Newcastle is also the most likely city to experience a white Christmas

Newcastle has officially been crowned the UK’s inaugural ‘Capital of Christmas’, following the publication of new national research to celebrate the festive season.

A study by budgeting experts Park Christmas Savings, assessed the festive activity of every town and city across the UK, revealing Geordies to be the nation’s ultimate Christmas revellers.

Park data shows Tynesiders are best prepared financially for the festive season, with residents putting away more pounds ahead of the annual celebration than people in any other area.

Newcastle also boasts a host of the nation’s most popular and famous Christmas attractions, gets its Christmas lights on bright and early – and has a 33% chance of snow this December.

Front and centre of the city’s festive delights are its three buzzing Christmas markets, containing everything from Santa’s grottos to live festive music and locally sourced festive treats.

This year, they are bigger than ever extending into Grey’s Monument and Grainger Street, with mulled wine, mince pies, bratwurst, and plenty more on offer.

The city is also home to one of the country’s most iconic Christmas trees each winter.

The ‘Bergen Tree’ has been presented to Newcastle by the residents of Norway every year since 1949, to symbolise the nation’s gratitude to Newcastle for its support during World War Two.

Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Cllr Karen Robinson said: “Newcastle’s has always enjoyed a close relationship with Bergen, and it gives me great pleasure to be able to accept their generous gift of a tree on behalf of the people of our city.”

The Park Christmas Savings research also looked at other variables including the average cost of a weekend visit in December, number of tourists and social media appeal.

This year, Newcastle also stepped into the festive spirit earlier than most other UK regions – on 15 November – when the city’s Christmas lights were switched on.

Elsewhere, the Tyneside town is the joint favourite to enjoy a white Christmas in 2022, with a 3/1 chance alongside Glasgow and Edinburgh, according to latest odds.

Ian Thomas, Destination Director at NewcastleGateshead Initiative, which promotes tourism in the area, said: “Christmas is a time to make memories for life and spend quality time with loved ones, and there is no better place to do that than in Newcastle, and this accolade is testament to that.

“Our partners across the city work hard every year to ready the region for Christmas and give people from around the world the famous Geordie welcome.

“This year is out our biggest and best, with Christmas markets showcasing local traders and bringing local landmarks to life, such as Old Eldon Square, Grey’s Monument and the historic Grainger Market – the city is absolutely buzzing with festivities.

“We will be wearing the Capital of Christmas crown with pride as a destination where everyone is welcome, at Christmas and all year round.”

On top of a variety of festive delights in the city, when it comes to spending, Park data shows one in 35 Newcastle households uses its Christmas savings scheme to budget for the big day.

A considerable 73% of early bird Park savers in Newcastle’s actually confirmed and activated their Christmas 2022 savings plan before Christmas Day, 2021!

By paying what they can when they can on a regular basis, Park customers get to manage the cost of Christmas over the course of a year by starting early; the residents of Newcastle are more prepared for the festive season than people in any other city.

Katherine Scott, Director of Marketing at Park Christmas Savings, said: “We are delighted to today unveil Newcastle as the UK’s Capital of Christmas 2022.

“At Park, we already know that Geordies are savvy savers who get ahead of the curve because they are true Early Birds. Combine that with the huge draw of incredible Christmas markets and the nostalgic atmosphere it brings, the beautiful Bergen tree and the city’s festive lights and attractions and we have found our first ‘Capital of Christmas’.

“In true tradition, we also love that residents of the city are more likely than those in any other area to experience a white Christmas. There’s no other place that deserves the crown more!”

10 Multi-Platform Games that you need to play… all under £15

• Gamers are looking for ways to make their hobby more affordable
• Digital Copies of Video Games still cost the same as their physical counterpart
• Pokémon Scarlet sales drop over 60% in its second week of release

The worsening cost-of-living crisis is affecting consumers’ hobbies and past-times, such as gaming, with many having to alter or stop what they do because it can be too expensive to maintain.

The gaming industry has come a long way with advances in technology and being able to create an immersive experience for consumers, however, this comes with a price.

Video game prices have skyrocketed, and the gaming industry could be impacted due to the prices of games and consoles.

Gaming experts at Solitaired.com analysed data from digital distribution stores (Nintendo eShop/PlayStation Store/Microsoft Store) and Ahrefs to determine 10 budget-friendly video games that consumers can purchase on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/5, and Xbox One without having to break the bank.

1. 1. Fall Guys – Mediatonic, Free
Fall Guys is a free-to-play battle royale game with full cross-platform support, allowing gamers to all play together no matter what console they have. Initially, the game required purchasing, but in June 2022 the game was made available for free subsequently increasing popularity and gameplay.

2. 2. Rocket League – Psyonix, Free

Rocket League is a hybrid soccer-racing game that is available on the Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. Despite the game being released in 2015, it is the most popular on this list with a global search volume of over 1 million. In addition, the game is free to play on all platforms.

3. 3. Among Us – InnerSloth LLC, from £3.89

When it comes to popularity, Among Us takes the number one spot with over 6.3M global searches, however when it comes to the price, Among Us takes the third spot overall. The game starts from £3.89 on the Nintendo Switch and goes up to £4.19 on the Microsoft Store.

The game now has cross-platform ability, allowing users to play together no matter the console they have.

4. 4. Quiplash – Jackbox Games, from £7.99

Quiplash is a standalone game from the Jackbox Party franchise, it is the perfect party game and allows up to eight players and supports up to 10,000 active participants. Players need to answer witty questions and have other players pick their answers to score points. The game starts at £7.99 on the Microsoft Store but is also included in several Jackbox ‘Party Pack’s’ which start at £17.99.

5. 5. Screencheat: Unplugged – Unity, from £10.79

Screencheat was released back in 2014 and deserves a place on this list due to its fresh take on first-person shooter games. The game is a split-screen shooter where players are all invisible. Players will have to ‘screencheat’ to find their opponents and shoot them. The game is available for £10.79 on the Nintendo eShop and goes up to £11.99 on both PlayStation and Microsoft stores.

6. 6. Death Squared – SMG Studio, from £11.49

Death Squared was initially released in 2017 and became a hit amongst gamers eventually having ports released to iOS and Android devices. It is a puzzle video game that focuses heavily on cooperation and communication skills. The game starts at £11.49 on the PlayStation Store and goes up to £11.99 on both Nintendo eShop and Microsoft Store.

7. 7. The Last Campfire – Hello Games, from £11.99

The Last Campfire is a puzzle game released back in 2020 and received a 10/10 rating on Steam. The game focuses on loneliness and community. Players are required to solve environmental puzzles that help unlock new areas of the game and help characters. The game is currently available for £11.99 on both PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store.

8. 8. Boomerang Fu – Cranky Watermelon, from £11.99

Boomerang Fu is a fighting party game that allows for up to six players at once, compared to other party games allowing up to four players. It has received a 10/10 rating on Steam and has additional gaming packs available to download. The game starts at £11.99 on PlayStation Store

9. 9. Overcooked – Team17, from £12.79

Overcooked is a cooking simulation party game that has a large fanbase and is available on numerous platforms. Due to its popularity, it is often sold alongside its sequel for a reduced bundle price. The game starts at £12.79 on the Microsoft Store and goes up to £14.99 on
the Nintendo eShop.

10. 10. Trivial Pursuit Live! – Ubisoft, from £11.99

Trivial Pursuit Live! is a digital version of thf the well-known trivia game. It allows users to play remotely or online and follows the scenario of a game
show. It is currently available for £11.99 on both PlayStation and Microsoft Stores.

The worsening cost-of-living crisis will mean that frequent gamers will need to change their behaviour when it comes to making their favourite hobby more affordable.

Despite this, when it comes to cutting costs on video games, there has been no differentiation in cost regarding physical and digital copies. For example, the most recent game from the Pokémon series starts at £49.99 for a physical copy, and the same for a digital download code, on the Nintendo Online Store and Nintendo eShop. This could potentially explain the games’ drop in sales, despite only being released two weeks ago. Consumers would expect a difference in pricing for digital and physical copies, due to fewer materials and shipping required.

However, digital distribution stores do offer discounts and have frequent sales on their stores and gamers should take full advantage of this.

Gamers should also look at smaller indie games, especially as they can be cheaper. Solitaired.com commented on this data saying, “Indie game publishers can create just us fun games compared to bigger publishers such as Nintendo, Konami or Sony. The only difference is that the majority of the time indie franchises are much cheaper and more affordable in today’s climate, and it is important to put a spotlight on them”.

Be prepared this Christmas with Billie Shepherd’s top gifting tips from how to gift the person who’s tricky to buy for, or what to do when you’ve forgotten someone on your list!

Billie was recently announced as Christmas Gifting Ambassador for Baylis & Harding, the first ever, and has launched her own Edit of beautiful Christmas gifts. Now Billie has released her best advice for gifting this festive season.

1. Make a list and check it twice….
“As with most people, my list of who I need to buy for seems to get longer every year whether it’s the kids’ teachers, friends, family – it can get overwhelming. The easiest thing to do is write up a list in advance and plan who’s getting what, alongside a budget of what you are happy to spend. Having it all in one place will help you feel more organised, and you can tick each one off the list when they’ve been purchased!”

2. Shop as much as you can online…
“I am normally more of a dasher, running around the shops last minute, but this year with a new house move and a new baby on the way, I’m definitely going to be a planner. A great way to get a head start is online shopping – it’s more convenient, you can shop around, and you will find more deals online than you will in store. You can get a lot of gifts sorted all in one go and you can avoid busy stores. My biggest tip would just be to check delivery dates, so you know they’ll arrive in time!”

3. Make it personal and think about fragrance
“I always think about what scents a person likes when it comes to choosing their present so you’re not just buying them any old gift set. You can usually judge this by the perfume or aftershave someone wears, or the products they have in their home.

“Take my mum for example, she’s always on the go, while always managing to remain glamourous. So, I like to think of a gift that allows her to unwind and relax yet still has a decadent touch. The Baylis & Harding Boudoire Rose fragrance in my Edit has the perfect floral scent in a range of relaxing bath soaks which I know mum will love.”

4. Save time and consider buying pre-wrapped gifts
“I love wrapping gifts for my loved ones, but a little hack I’ve learnt as a busy mum is choose something that is already packaged beautifully! That way, the hard work is already done for you and all you need to do is pop it straight under the tree. It honestly makes it so much easier and saves so much time. That’s what I love about Baylis & Harding, their gifts are so beautifully wrapped, that you can just pop them in a gift bag or box, and you’re sorted.”

5. Remember, a gift is not just for Christmas
“Giving people gifts is one of my favourite parts of Christmas, and I always like to try and gift something that I know someone can keep and cherish, something that will be useful, or something that can be used time and time again. It’s also nice to give gifts that you know could be put on display.

“I just love Baylis & Harding’s Light Up Crème Bath Bubbles Decanter, in my edit which comes in this gorgeous glass bottle which can be refilled with your favourite bubble bath and looks gorgeous on the side of any bath. I’m so much more conscious of giving gifts that I know will last beyond Christmas day and I know this is something that many others are mindful of too.”.

6. Have extra gifts on hand (just in case you forget someone!)
“No matter how much you plan, there’s always an unexpected guest or visitor over Christmas that you haven’t bought for. A great tip to avoid last minute panic buying is to get hold of a few extra stocking filler gifts in advance, that way no-one is left out.”

7. If in doubt about what to gift, go for something practical
“Greg is definitely the hardest to buy for in my family and he often gets left with gifts he’ll never use. If you’re unsure what to buy someone or what they will like, I always think it’s best to get them something you know they’ll use again and again, rather than a token gift that may not get touched after Christmas.

“Practical gifts like slippers or a quality washbag always go down well in my family, or sometimes it’s as simple as choosing a gift set with a fresh scent that they can use daily.”

8. Consider stocking fillers!
“The kids are usually the ones that get the most gifts at Christmas of course, as it’s such a magical time for them. While it’s amazing seeing them open any present, cute stocking fillers can be really special and they don’t cost the earth. Anything a bit fun and silly like dinosaurs and unicorns will go down well with the kids – especially Nelly and Arthur who love opening the smaller, more fun gifts on the day.”

9. Don’t forget about yourself!
“Obviously giving gifts at Christmas is what it’s all about, but I do think it’s nice to get yourself a little something too, or something for the home that makes you feel good about having guests round.

“I really love the build-up to Christmas, getting the house decorated and making sure everything is festive, so I do like to get myself a few special handwashes and hand lotions to put around the house. It’s just that extra finishing touch that makes the house feel really Christmassy.”

Sales of televisions have surged amid the first-ever winter World Cup – as football fans swap the boozer and freezing cold fan parks for the comfort of their own home.

England sailed into the knockout stages of the competition this week after sweeping aside Wales – ending their rival’s slim hopes of qualification to the round of 16.

And while the victory would ordinarily have been celebrated in beer gardens and fan parks across the country, sales data from online marketplace OnBuy indicates fans have instead cheered on from home.

According to latest figures, Brits have purchased televisions and TV equipment in their droves in recent weeks.

Sales of home cinema systems surged by 1769% in the seven days prior to the start of the competition.

One of the marketplace’s top-selling TVs is the 55-inch Hisense SMART 4k Ultra HD – proving that football really is a game of inches!

A consumer survey* ahead of the tournament found 84% of fans planning to watch the World Cup intend to do it from the comfort of their own home.

Just 8% of people surveyed planned to watch the tournament in a pub or on a big screen.

According to the retail experts at OnBuy, the trend is partly a result of this year’s World Cup being staged in winter for the first time ever.

Liam Tickner, Electronics and Technology Category Manager at OnBuy, said: “England and Wales fans would usually flock to busy beer gardens and fan zones.

“However, with this year’s competition taking place in the middle of winter, many fans are opting to watch in the warm at home.

“We have seen this reflected in the sales. Fans want to watch the competition on the best quality TVs and home cinema systems they can.”

Some pubs have boycotted showing World Cup matches over concerns about the host nation Qatar.

The nation has been criticised for its position on same-sex relationships, its human rights record and its treatment of migrant workers.

Home Alone is the UK’s favourite Christmas movie of all time, according to new national research revealed today1.

The movie, originally released in December 1990, took 19% of the vote, beating out tough competition from Will Ferrell classic Elf (14%) and the festive favourite Love Actually (13%), according to the nationwide study carried out by Showcase Cinemas ahead of the Christmas period.

Elsewhere, in a closely fought race to be named the UK’s favourite film character from a Christmas movie, Will Ferrell’s performance as Buddy saw him land top spot, with 1 in 5 choosing the eccentric elf as their number one. Macauley Culkin’s breakout performance as Kevin McCallister (17%) in Home Alone landed in second place, while action hero John McClane (15%) from Die Hard rounded off the top three.

Not only was Buddy named the favourite character from a Christmas film, he was also named the number one character participants would like to spend Christmas Day with, taking 16% of the vote.

However, in the most controversial reveal from the survey, over 1 in 5 of participants claimed Die Hard is not a Christmas film.

And what is a Christmas flick without Santa Claus? With a whole host of actors taking to the big screen to portray St. Nick, it was Richard Attenborough’s performance in the 1994 remake of Miracle on 34th Street that the UK named its favourite, taking over a quarter of the vote (26%).

Kurt Russell (20%) finished in second place after playing Santa in 2018’s The Christmas Chronicles, while Tom Hanks (18%), who played the voice of Father Christmas in animated favourite The Polar Express, finished in third spot.

To celebrate the Christmas period, Showcase Cinemas will be screening a range of festive flashback favourites at cinemas nationwide, including the UK’s number one – Home Alone.

Showcase Cinemas spokesperson, said: “Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year when it comes to the cinema. There are so many iconic films and moments from festive films throughout the years and Home Alone is a deserving winner in our nationwide poll.

“Our survey revealed that watching Christmas movies is one of the UK’s favourite things at this time of year, so we’re delighted to be screening a few festive flashbacks on our screens across the country.

“Whether its family favourites such as The Polar Express or the evergreen Die Hard, guests can come along and get in the Christmas spirit with a classic film screening in the lead up to the big day”.

What’s more, the survey also revealed the UK’s favourite song from a Christmas movie, with Bing Crosby classic ‘White Christmas’ (29%), from 1942’s Holiday Inn finishing as the favourite.

After being named the UK’s favourite Christmas movie, Home Alone also picked up number one in the nation’s favourite scene from a Christmas movie with ‘KEVIN!’ (19%) finishing ahead the famous doorstep scene (15%) from Love Actually.

The survey also revealed that the average Brit watches five Christmas movies a year, with only a third of the UK (36%) not watching a film on Christmas Day.

• Marion Crane’s murder in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho voted most memorable bathroom scene from film or television
• Other memorable moments include Marilyn Monroe’s ice bath in The Seven Year Itch, and Julia Roberts’ bubble bath in Pretty Woman
• Study carried out by luxury bathing and skincare brand fenjal to celebrate its 60th anniversary

The ‘shower scene’ in classic thriller Psycho has been voted the most memorable bathroom scene in film or television history, according to new national research.

The survey, carried out by luxury bathing and skincare brand fenjal, asked participants to name the most iconic bathroom scenes from the big and small screens.

Marion Crane’s murder scene in Alfred Hitchcock’s seminal thriller took top spot with 16% of the vote, closely followed by Allie Hamilton’s bath scene in romantic drama The Notebook (13%).

Julia Roberts’ bubble bath in Pretty Woman, Elizabeth Taylor’s lotus flower bath in Cleopatra, and Marilyn Monroe’s ice bath in The Seven Year Itch all took an 11% share of the public vote.

Elsewhere, Tony Montana’s lavish bubble bath in Scarface took 4% of the vote, while the prefects’ bathroom scene from Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire was selected 3% of people.

fenjal also quizzed the nation on what makes the perfect bath, as part of the brand’s 60thanniversary celebrations.

Nearly half of people (49%) believe temperature is the most important element when it comes to running the perfect bath, with a third (33%) saying bubbles are the key to ultimate relaxation.

Elsewhere, the study found Brits prefer baths to showers. Over half of respondents (52%) opt for the tub, compared to around three in ten (31%) preferring a shower, while 16% do not have a preference.

Joanne Ward, Commercial Manager for fenjal, said: “There are so many iconic bathroom moments across film and tv – and today we have found the British public’s definitive favourite.

“Often regarded as one of the best films ever, Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho is a bonafide classic. Despite being made in the 1960s, the film holds up, and the shower scene, with its oft-imitated soundtrack, is as iconic and scary as ever.

“For less spooky bathroom scenes, Julia Roberts bubble bath in Pretty Woman and Elizabeth Taylor’s lotus flower bath in Cleopatra are firm favourites. To recreate these relaxing soaks, you need to consider the water temperature, plus add bubble bath, oils, or salts.”

In celebration of its diamond anniversary, fenjal is giving away two Monica Vinader Gold Diamond Necklaces.

fenjal has been on a mission since 1962 to put smiles on women’s faces – and now one lucky winner can do the same thing, as they keep one necklace and gift another to a loved one.

To enter, head to the @fenjaluk Instagram page, follow, like and comment on this post, plus tag the person you think deserves to sparkle with you this Christmas.

fenjal has a wide range of luxury bathing and skincare products, to shop the brand’s full collection head to Amazon, your local Boots store or online here. Animals Asia

Here in Animals Asia, we work to ending bear bile farming in Asia, a cruel practice that has been pushing Asiatic black bears (aka moon bears), and sun bears towards extinction in the country, as The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) lists the species as vulnerable to extinction, with an overall estimated decline of 31% for the last 30 years.

We have saved more than 650 bears from this and currently taking care of them in our Vietnam and China sanctuaries. But we need the support of animal lovers to continue to provide them with food, health care and shelter.

Therefore, we launched our bear sponsorship program. With a monthly donation, animal lovers can choose the individual bear they like, learn their stories and get monthly updates about their situation. They all have different characters and stories, so it’s so fun to read those updates, and learn about their new favourite friends, games and foods.
