Simon Easterby Appointed As Irish Rugby Forwards Coach

The Irish Rugby Football Union today (17 July) announced the appointment of Simon Easterby as Ireland forwards coach.

Simon joins the Ireland coaching set-up from Welsh Pro12 club Scarlets where he has been head coach since 2012.

A former Ireland captain, Simon played 65 times for Ireland between 2000 and 2008 and was a member of the British and Irish Lions tour of 2005.

He will join the Irish set-up at the start of October.

Commenting on the announcement, Joe Schmidt said:

“Simon has tremendous test match experience combined with an in-depth knowledge of the current National Squad players. He is well known to Irish rugby supporters and to many of the players and his knowledge and experience will help drive the team forward.”

Simon Easterby added:

“It’s an exciting time to be involved in Irish rugby and I am looking forward to helping the team continue to be as competitive as possible.”
