Ulster yesterday (last sat) secured their first ever Inter Provincial Championships after they recorded their second win of the 2012 series thanks to a 34-22 win over Munster in Limerick.

This means that all three teams which have competed in the Inter-Provincial Series have won the competition at one point.

While the clubs in Ulster and Munster enjoyed a break for the Inter-Provincial game there was a full round of fixtures to be played in Leinster.

Saturday started off with Ashbourne Stags continuing their quest for a semi final spot by defeating the Dublin City Exiles 38-26 in Terenure to move Ashbourne into second place. This loss means the Exiles have now dropped to fourth place on the table with three rounds left to be played.

Portarlington Wolverines extended their lead at the top with an emphatic 104-10 win over the Ballyfermot Bears in the heat of Portarlington.

Club action returns in Ulster and Munster next weekend while in Leinster Portarlington will be looking to seal their spot in the Leinster play off.
