Height: 6’1″

Weight: 15st5lb

Career with Ballynahinch: 10 Years

Clubs: RBAI, Ballynahinch.

Victories: Part of The Ballynahinch Dream Team 08/09 season.

Schools Cup: RBAI beaten in Quarter Finals by the boot of a certain Ian Humphries.

When did rugby begin for you: 12 years of age.

Who were the best props you played against: There are a lot of good props out there but I don’t tend to think of who I’m propping against, it’s a team situation and I prop against whatever is in-front of me. I take each scrum one at a time, and give each scrum the respect it deserves.

Most memorable prop story: One stands out, the AIL Cup Final, that tackle by myself and Gerry Cronin against the Cork Constitution prop. Another time I will never forget is popping rib cartilage against Bainbridge – I thought I was going home in a coffin!

What does propping mean to you: Scrummaging can be used as a very potent attacking option but for this to happen you need all eight forwards working together. It is important that both props are capable or else it is practically impossible to get the platform necessary to drive through the opposing team.

What does it feel like to be a prop: SORE!

Who’s the biggest bandit on the Hinch squad: Nial McBriar AKA Cyril Sneer.

Shaved or Unshaved: Shaved.

Beers Wine or Spirits: Whatever’s on offer
