Ahead of this weekend’s round one fixtures, the IRFU Ulster Branch is pleased to confirm the renewal of First Trust Bank’s sponsorship of the Ulster Senior Cup for a further three years.

Speaking at the sponsorship launch, Joey Devlin, Manager Private Banking at First Trust Bank, commented: ‘Following another successful First Trust Bank Senior Cup we are delighted to confirm that the Bank will sponsor the Senior Cup for three more years. We are proud to promote this local Ulster Branch tournament for players, fans and customers alike. The Senior Cup generates great competition amongst the teams involved and we hope next season will be as gripping as ever.’

David Boyd, IRFU Ulster Branch Domestic Rugby Manager stated: ‘It is remarkable and possibly unique that in the current economic climate this renewed sponsorship of the Senior Cup will see the support by First Trust Bank extend into three decades. It says a great deal, not only about the excellent relationship between First Trust Bank and the Ulster Branch, but also of the sponsor’s continued commitment to club rugby throughout the Province. We are delighted that the First Trust Bank name remains associated with this prestigious competition.’

The opening round has drawn up a repeat of last year’s final with 2011 victors Ballymena playing host to Banbridge. Deramore Park will be the setting for another mouth watering tie as Belfast Harlequins will face a travelling Dungannon side. The other two fixtures will see Armagh host Ards and Queen’s University will be at home to Ballynahinch.
