Clogher 0 – Omagh 36

Omagh 3rd team picked up another 2 league points following victory over neighbours Clogher Valley 3rdxv at their Fivemiletown venue.
The Omagh team showing 5 changes from their last game ,mainly due to problems higher up the club took a little while to get to know each other.
However once settled down, Omagh forwards in particular got going and following a line out near Clogher’s line a concerted drive saw the pack go forward for a try awarded to Gary Smyth and some 10 minutes later following some strong running from backs Jamie Lagan skipped down the blind side to time a perfect pass to the supporting Smyth who sped in from 25 metres for his second score.
Omagh’s 3rd try was a carbon copy of their first . Good tactical kicking by Scott and Lagan saw Omagh win a lineout 5 metres from opposition line and with catch and controlled drive

Gareth Shortt emerged at bottom of pile and awarded a try.
Jamie Lagan had now the measure of the wind a kicked the conversion for a lead of 17-0 at half time.

The second half was mainly Omagh on the attack looking to increase their advantage
The visitors backs were more prominent in this half with strong runs from McFlynn,McIlwaine,Barry,McKelvey(before pulled muscle) and regular incursions into the line by fill back King all of which might have resulted in a
score if better passing techniques had been forthcoming.
However from one of many frees awarded to Omagh,Ian Scott put Chris Elkin in under posts for a converted try by Lagan and soon afterwards clean fielding by Sheldon Monteith saw him run out of defence, link up with backs and some sharp interpassing resulted in young Ashley McIlwaine sprint up the wing for excellent try again converted by Lagan.
Near the end Gary Smyth was rewarded with his third try of game when he was in right position to power over line following forward pressure.
The team travel to Newtownards on Saturday in another league game and captain Kane will hope to have some resemblance of a settled team by this stage of the season.
