The Quins 4s Juggernaut rolled out of Gibson Park on Saturday with another impressive victory.

Trinity made the better start and were awarded an early penalty as Quins came in at the side of a ruck. However, Cathal Marsh was off target with the kick.

Quins had an opportunity to open the scoring when they moved the ball through the backline. Winger Matthew Holmes chipped ahead, but Trinity full back James O’Donoghue had it covered and carried the ball into touch.

From the resulting lineout Quins moved the ball quickly and after a few drives from the pack centre Will Stewart was driven over from close range to score the games only try. Young full back Johnny Holmes added the conversion to give Quins a 7-0 lead after five minutes.

Trinity were awarded a penalty as Quins failed to roll away at a ruck. Back chat to the referee resulted in an extra 10 metres for the visitors and Cathal Marsh got his side on the scoreboard with a successful kick on 20 minutes.

Marsh added his second penalty on 29 minutes when the home side were punished for hands in the ruck.

Quins forced a penalty at the scrum but Johnny Holmes pulled his kick wide and Quins had to settle for a 7-6 lead at the interval.
Quins scrum-half Michael Kirkwood received his first yellow card on 42 minutes for a high tackle.

Marsh added Trinity’s third penalty on 57 minutes when Quins were again guilty of having hands in the ruck.

Quins conceded a series of penalties and the referee ran out of patience on 68 minutes and sin binned centre Will Stewart.

Trinity thought they had scored a match winning try when scrum half Michael McLoughlin made a snipping run cutting in from the wing to midfield creating space on the right hand side. He offloaded to flanker Brian Du Toit who had a free run in, but the final pass was adjudged forward.

Trinity were awarded another penalty but it rebounded off the cross bar which set up a fanatic last five minutes. The students were first to react and reclaimed the ball as they tried to work the ball through the phases Quins infringed again and Kirkwood was send off on 75 minutes for a second yellow card.

Marsh slotted over the resulting penalty to seal a win for the Dublin side.
