“Ask for Angela” Innovative Campaign Dramatically Helps Those In Need when a date goes horribly wrong!

Picture the scene, you’ve spent some time chatting with someone online, perhaps on a free  dating site or a paid site and you have decided to meet, to have a date! You arrive at the date it goes well but you decide shortly afterwards that the person is not working for you, but they cope with the dissapointment well and you both move on! It happens a lot, its natural and its part of the process of meeting potential love interests and it does not always work out. Its probalby fair to say that most don;t work out, for many different reasons!

However, in a small though stastically significant number of dates, one of the people on the date feels distinctly uncomfortable with their date to the point that they feel they are close to the line or across the line of verbal abuse and perhaps feel that this person could become abusive in some other way or something is not working out and they do not feel they can continue with the date. Its a nightmare situation! Waht do you do! Sometimes its not possible to discretely go to the toilet and simply dissappear! The location of the toilet could make this very difficult in relation to you location standing or seated in the venue! what do you do!

Well last year Lincolnshire County Council trialed a superb concept, a campaign of sorts and a service that has proved very successful, called “Ask for Angela”. The concept is simple, staff in establishments are trained in how to discretely separate a person from a date and although them to leave the premises safely! Its been a great success and over 50% of venues have signed up!

You may find yourself in dangerous and difficult situations with people you have met and agreed to go on a date with through paid or free dating sites, and whilst it is very rare, you may find yourself in difficult situations that you don’t know how to get out off. The “Ask for Angela” campaign is a superb way of allowing a difficult situation to be dealt with in a controlled way in which people are aware of whats happening, understand the issue and can offer assistance!

Take care and time to familiarise yourself with all the security protocols that can be taken to mitigate issues such as these and put in place boundaries whilst online dating, trigger phrases and behaviours which alert your senses to potentially hazardous or toxic people, at the very least make sure you go to a venue where access and exit is possible and even better if the venue has the “Ask for Angela” sustem in place then you will know that you have taken steps to protect yourself from difficult and toxic people so that you can quickly and efficiently discontinue the date and leave in a safe and secure way!

Please take care!

Very best wishes!
