WASPS PASS 27,000 TICKETS WITH FOUR DAYS STILL TO GO UNTIL RICOH DEBUT

Wasps have today announced it has passed the 27,000 ticket mark for the Club’s opening game at the Ricoh Arena in four days time. The all-time record home ground attendance for an Aviva Premiership Rugby fixture is 24,000 set by Leicester Tigers at Welford Road. Wasps first game at their new home will be against London Irish on Sunday 21st December.

Demand for match tickets has been high for Wasps historic first game at the Ricoh since first going on sale in early November. Ticket availability in the West, East and South stands is limited, but tickets are still available in categories 3 and 4 in the stadium. Demand for hospitality has also been high with The Premier Club and the 1867 Lounge both selling out. However there are a number of hospitality packages still available in various lounges in the stadium.

Along with some top class Aviva Premiership Rugby, fans can expect a bumper package of entertainment including a performance from reality TV star Jake Quickenden, fairground rides, musical acts, ice sculptures and a children’s activity area.

Tickets for Wasps first match are available from just £15. Entrance for under ten year olds is free if accompanied by a paying adult.

Paul Sackey, who scored two tries at the Ricoh Arena in 2007 when Wasps beat Northampton Saints 30-13 to reach Heineken Cup Final, commented:

“If the atmosphere inside the Ricoh is anywhere near what it was like in 2007 then it’s going to be a wicked day to watch rugby. As a player it’s one of those stadiums that feels quite intimate despite its scale. I remember thinking that the crowd felt very close to me. With 27,000 fans there’s going to be a lot of noise which will generate a pretty intense match day experience for the players.”

Tickets for Wasps matches at the Ricoh Arena against London Irish on Sunday 21st December and Sale Sharks on 4th January can be purchased on reception at the Ricoh Arena, online by visiting the Wasps website www.wasps.co.uk or by calling the Wasps ticket line on 0844 847 1867 or via Ticketmaster website www.ticketmaster.co.uk/wasps
