Successful day by the sea for Virginia RFC Under 12’s
The U12s travelled to Skerries in Co. Dublin on Sunday 9th December for their final full fixture of 2012. On a fine winter morning by the sea they fielded two teams and played four games against their hosts, coming away with honours even after two wins and two defeats. Virginia played some excellent rugby, with the forwards Ibykan Ajetummobi, Rebecca Snell, Robert Lochaden, Sorcha Higgins and Niall Branagan competing aggressively at the rucks, and driving forward at every opportunity. Some loose tackling at times allowed a very quick Skerries team to claim a couple of wins, but all in all the backs defended well, and led by Amanda McQuade, Cian Doughty, Aaron Kierans, Aaron Mannion, Jason Henderson, and Conor Hetherton troubled the hosts every chance they got. When Virginia got the ball wide their powerful runs invariably led to try scoring opportunities, and these were converted on the day by Ronan McKeown, Rioghan Smith, Cai Walker, Enda Maguire, and Evan Charters. A big thank you to our ever gracious hosts Skerries for a great fixture and generous post match spread.
