Lurgan 2nd xv vs Ballymoney 3’s 23/1/16

Lurgan made the difficult trip to Ballymoney on Saturday a ground that has held little success for the 2’s in the past.
With 7 of their regular 15 players missing the Lurgan side that did travel had no specialist scrum half, full back and no front row replacements.
Ballymoney showed their intent from the kick off and chased the kick causing Lurgan to knock the ball on handing a scrum advantage to the home side Lurgan quickly realised they were in for a tough time and for 20 minutes they hardly got out of their own half. After 10 minutes Ballymoney scored with their forwards crashing the ball up and breaching Lurgan’s line too easily.
It was against the run of play that Lurgan seized the lead with a rare break from Mcilwaine combining with Swift, Johnston and Craig Brown to send Dawid Stanczak over for Mcilwaine to convert. Ballymoney 5 Lurgan 7.
Lurgan added another 2 penalties in quick succession and were starting to look like they could push on to close the game out when Ballymoney struck after sustained pressure to score on the stroke of half time Ballymoney 12 Lurgan 13…….. CLICK HERE for the full story !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
