Lisburn 2XV VS DUNGANNON 3XV

DUNGANNON 3’s took on a well drilled Lisburn 2’s yesterday in their opening game of the season.
The game kicked off with Peter Smith making a strong run testing the defence from the off. Gannon were tested quickly after and after sustained pressure Lisburn took an early lead. Missed conversion

It became apparent that there was a big challenge ahead and the dungannon men rose to the occasion competing to the very last. A penalty at 15 minutes left Lisburn further ahead

As the game moved into the second quarter there were a few notable exchanges from the dungannon men. Dan Quinn retrieved a neat pass from Richard Murphy and chipped over the Lisburn defence and sadly it didn’t rise well and Lisburn gathered. Dungannon remained on the defence with another try getting in down the wing.

The lads worked as hard as they could to make ground. With full scrum rules it was a challenge to get the ball out quickly. Aaron Clements at 9 made a sharp break and ran the ball through opening up a potential score but had to settle for the penalty

Another two tries from Lisburn before half time left the score

Second half started with some great work from dungannon. Pressure applied to Lisburn from the off and a. Great run from Mitchell Freestone-Leong to bring them up covering most of the field.
From the scrum a few loose exchanges causes dungannon to lose possession and have to compete for the ball again and the lads displayed Strong defence on the line. Sustained for 5 solid minutes. A failed attempt at clearing the line causes a soft try to sneak past.

As the game moved into the last minutes another couple of tries left the final score
