League leaders BHSFP looked to consolidate their advantage with a repeat of their win at the Pavillion a few weeks ago. We had other ideas.

Christmas came early to Stormont as Civil Service demolished the league leaders in their best display of rugby this season. With a very colourful and festive crowd watching they delivered them their present early and followed up the earlier triumphs of the U14 and U18’s.

On paper it would have looked like being a comfortable win. They were runaway league leaders. They had won too easily in the first meeting and had an extra week to rest after their match had been cancelled last week while Service were coming off an arduous defeat in Cavan dictated mostly by injuries and unavailability. That’s what it looked like on paper…but Coach Roy Lawton and his lads were ready to rip up that paper and shove it where the sun don’t shine! With a number of changes from last week Arthur Kerr went back to managing duties and provided a strong team to round off the year.
