Main Pic, Stuart Lester scores for Armagh
Text Pic Manihera Eden makes a strong run for Armagh
Armagh seconds strolled to victory over neighbours Dungannon seconds on Saturday past at the Palace grounds. With both 1st xv’s having played on Friday night, it was left to the second strings to claim the derby bragging rights. As it turned out the home side were vastly superior in every department with tries scored at will in the first half. First to touch down was Lorcan Magillan after combining with Matty Campbell. Magillan converted for an early 7-0 lead and shortly after he went over again for an unconverted try to stretch the score to 12-0. With the forwards dominating and enterprising play from the backline, further scores came from P Fletcher, Luke crozier (2), T Girvan, P Campbell (2) and Jonathan Morton to leave a half time score of 62-0. On the restart Dungannon forced the home team to make errors and with an Armagh player in the bin, the visitors were able to gain territory into the Armagh half. Good defence from Coventry, McNeice and Conleth Magillan kept the line intact and when the team were restored to 15 players, further tries were scored by P Campbell, M Campbell and John Fletcher to leave a final score of 80-0. With an excellent kicking display from Lorcan Magillan with 10 conversions, his 2 tries gave him a total of 30 points.
