MON 1st 28 – 25 LURGAN 1st

On a lovely sunny afternoon in Lurgan, this was certainly a game of two halves, Mon with a much changed side from previous weeks had a few new players to the game and what a difference they made. Mon was 21-0 at half time with forwards F.Traynor, K.Casey and Dick Carlton forcing Lurgan back time and time again. MN opened the scoring when C.McGuinness broke from inside his own half, good work by D.Savage and E.Rutledge set him on his way after side stepping his way to the try line, he then popped to M.McArdle who was in support and he crossed under the posts, conv.D.Savage. Once again it was McGuinness who picked up a loose ball and sprinted over for his 1st try, conv. D.Savage, Then it was capt. D.Berrys turn after good work by K.McLoughlin and J.Rutt, conv. D.Savage.
HT 21-0. Second half Lurgan slowly began to put the pressure on and were awarded with a good try. Again MN were all over the place and some missed tackles allowed Lurgan in for another score, but MN kept their heads up and after good play from forwards + back D.Berry popped to the New man R.McNally and his pace seen him leaving the Lurgan defence behind to score in the corner, conv. D.Savage. Lurgan were to get 1 more conv try.
