One of the great events of my days at Grosvenor was the defeat of Campbell College in the Schools Cup in 1959 on their home ground at Fox’s Field.
The winning pass was from Henry Sinnerton at scrum half to Jimmy Reeves. Henry’s brother Moore was out-half and going open, but Henry ignored him in favour of Jimmy Reeves on the narrow side. Jimmy Reeves was a great winger and flashed over to score the winning try.
It was one of those ‘I was there!’ moments. The move was captured for ever on this photo which was an icon in my day and made it to the School Magazine of 1959. The wing forward looking backwards is Robin “Goosie” Armstrong.
