In the first ever Media V’s MLAs football match, which finished 2:2 at full time, the media eventually prevailed, winning 4:3 on penalties!

It was a tight match with plenty of substitutes made and no sign of a goal until the 18th minute when media team manager, Stephen Beacom brought on the big guns in the form of Stephen Nolan – and the MLA’s scored!
The event marked the official opening of PlayBall, the new sports facility located at The Pavilion in the grounds of Stormont. The state of the art project is the result of a £2.4m investment from NICSSA & Sport NI, offering a huge range of activities for people of all ages and abilities. PlayBall consists of 9 synthetic all weather pitches including an international standard water based hockey pitch, a multi purpose astro turf pitch and a range of third generation pitches suited to all training and match needs.

PlayBall continued with its opening celebrations with a FREE family sports fun day open to all on Sunday 12th September. The 5000 visitors enjoyed sports challenges, prizes, circus shows, a climbing wall, face painting, an inflatable entertainment zone, trampolines, hockey tournaments and a Cool FM Roadshow.

Pictured at the event are both the Media and the MLA’s teams with their Managers, Dawn Purvis & Stephen Beacom and referee, May McFettridge.
