The sponsor of the match ball, Rodney Smylie, must have been happy as Lurgan TWOS played their first home game of the season against Banbridge 4s and a keenly fought match resulted in a 36-12 win to Lurgan. Banbridge had an early chance to put points on the board but missed their penalty. The remainder of the half was hard fought with some heavy tackling from both sides. Lurgan edged the battle and ran in three trys with good initial work coming from the forwards at the breakdown and then some excellent passing and running from the backs to score. The first half ended 19-0. In the second half Banbridge took the game to Lurgan through their forwards and dominated the scrums and rucks. This pressure eventually told with penaltys given away at the rucks from which Banbridge eventually scored twice, though there was a query about a double movement on one try. Lurgan did not fold but carried on attacking at every opportunity and scored a further two trys. It was an excellent display with good performances from scrum half A Stevenson, winger D Stanckwz and centre S Gardner. Try scorers were D Stanckwz (2), C Walmsley (2) and J Wilson (1) with J McKay converting 4 conversions and 1 penalty.
Players are reminded that training is on Tuesdays and Thursdays so that scrumaging and running lines can be worked upon.
