16th December 2013 –LUMO BodyTech, an innovative company that uses smart sensors and software to help people improve and monitor their health, today announces not only the release of the LUMOback app for Android, but also integration with popular calorie counting app, MyFitnessPal. Users can now use the posture trainer with the Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4, Nexus 4 and 5, HTC One, and Motorola G to help improve posture, which impacts back pain, fitness, confidence and appearance. The Android app is available from today for free.

Now integration with MyFitnessPal is available too, users can wear their LUMOback throughout the day as normal and the MyFitnessPal profile will automatically adjust the calorie goal to reflect the activity level. This helps users make informed decisions about their calorie intake.

Posture problems are the leading cause of back pain, and back pain is the second most common reason for visits to the doctor, behind the common cold. The LUMOback uses a lightweight sensor and free app to track posture and movement, specifically measuring pelvic tilt to help guide the body position to a neutral pelvis alignment. The sleek, formfitting device uses an elasticated band to sit comfortably and discreetly around the lower back, under or over clothing.

If the user slouches from their lower back, leans forward or backwards, or shifts weight to one side, the LUMOback sensor will gently vibrate to remind them to sit or stand up straight. LUMOback uses real-time feedback and data visualisations to inspire improvements in posture that can have a significant impact on their health.

The LUMOback device connects wirelessly via Bluetooth to the app. A friendly stickman avatar called ‘LUMO’, tracks users’ posture and activities in real time, mirroring daily activities whether sitting, standing, walking, running or sleeping. The app also tracks steps, calories burned, time standing, time sitting and the number of times users stand up each day. Additionally, the LUMOback app provides a daily ‘Posture Score’ so that progress can be monitored as posture is improved.

LUMOback is now compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4, Nexus 4 and 5, HTC One, and Motorola G . Apple devices are also compatible. Both the Android and iOS app can be downloaded for free from Google Play and the Apple App Store.
