Last Sunday saw Enniskillen Ladies off to the flying start they were looking for in their Ulster Cup
campaign with a convincing second half performance to see off Sligo ladies with a 43 – 10 win.
The ‘Skins girls started brightly with the lively Brenda Brogan breaking the Sligo defensive line
twice in quick succession to put them two tries ahead with Caoimhe Morris converting both so
‘Skins led 14 – 0 after just ten minutes.

‘Skins however, instead of pushing on, let their heads drop and started to let the speedy Sligo backs
play the rugby they wanted and only some great tackling from Shauna McMorrow and Wendy
Rogers kept them at bay. The lack of structure in the ‘Skins defensive line allowed the Sligo backs
through on a number of occasions, with full back Sarah Teague making some big try saving tackles,132 pictures click here
but ‘Skins’ frantic defence couldn’t hold and the Sligo backs used the overlap to cross in the corner
for an unconverted score.
From the kick ‘Skins picked themselves up and started to retain possession, but Sligo were very
quick to utilise a fluky turnover, with ‘Skins poised for attack, and ran in another try using yet
another overlap. Once again the score was unconverted making the score 14 – 10.
With not long left in the first half ‘Skins knew they must
start to settle. They retained possession from the kick-off
and worked play into the Sligo “22” with great ball

McCutcheon showed great strength to cross the line for
an unconverted try, to leave the score 19 – 10 at half time.
‘Skins began the second half knowing that this match was
far from won and they began to retain the ball. Superb
runs from both the McMorrow sisters and Rogers kept the
game flowing into the Sligo half and eventually the
pressure paid off, when from a pick up from the back of a
scrum McCutcheon again powered over the line for a
great try.

From the kick, ‘Skins immediately put more pressure on Sligo and were soon playing the sort of
