Youngsters were able to view the Webb Ellis Cup first hand and enjoy a training session with two Leinster stars Gordon D’Arcy & Isa Nacewa.

First up was Isa who took time out to speak to us about the day, he said “its great that the the Webb Ellis Cup was at Old Belvedere today the weather was fantastic and we had a superb turnout of visitors including lots of up and coming players with whom we shared all our knowledge, quite a bit of which they already knew, there are definitely a few Gordon D’Arcys and Brian O’Driscolls in there to watch out for!

….. for me its great to be back in Ireland and the 6 nations was a big taster of what is to come at this years world cup in England, the Landrover was purpose built for this tour it actually has a purpose built display area for the cup, with climate control so Landrover have really went all out to support this!

….. I’m really looking forward to the battle between the Northern & Southern Hemisphere

….. obviously Ireland winning the Six Nations has put a lot of fear into the Southern Hemisphere there is genuine competition here, the fact that 3 games produced so many tries on the last day shows the genuine ability of the Northern Hemisphere who played such a true brand of rugby and that Ireland, Wales & England scored so many tries was a huge bonus! We will get that expansive game right through the world cup a genuine opportunity to see it played at the highest most creative and clinical level!

WOW….. What a massive experience to interview Isa // Thank You Isa!

Here is an overview of the day which was enjoyed by so many people…..

The Webb Ellis Cup, which will be lifted at Twickenham Stadium on 31st October by the winners of Rugby World Cup 2015, arrived in a bespoke Defender, created by Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations department to transport the Webb Ellis Cup throughout the 100-day Tour of the UK and Ireland. The Trophy was accompanied by Leinster Rugby stars Gordon D’Arcy and Isa Nacewa.

As part of the day’s activity, D’Arcy and Nacewa conducted a training session for the youngsters of the club’s youth section as they looked to develop their skills in a grassroots Rugby festival. The rising stars were able to see the coveted Webb Ellis Cup first hand as it completed its visit to Ireland.

D’Arcy, who has been capped 81 times for Ireland, said: “Having the Rugby World Cup 2015 Defender bring the Webb Ellis Cup to Old Belvedere RFC has provided a great opportunity for aspiring young rugby players to get to see the famous Trophy as it travels around UK & Ireland. It was hugely encouraging to see the children enjoying their Rugby so much here today and some of the skills on display were very impressive. We may have witnessed future stars of Irish Rugby in the making!”

Melanie McCourt, Marketing Manager of Jaguar Land Rover Ireland, commented: “Land Rover is helping to inspire the next generation of Rugby talent by allowing as many people as possible to engage with the Tournament and see Rugby’s biggest prize. It is in keeping with our Rugby World Cup 2015 campaign #WeDealInReal, which aims to champion the grassroots of the sport, bringing people closer to the pinnacle of world Rugby.”

As the Trophy leaves Ireland, Land Rover will continue to support the Tour as the Rugby World Cup 2015 Defender transports the Webb Ellis Cup around Wales and England before delivering the Trophy to Twickenham Stadium for the Opening Ceremony on September 18. The Trophy will also visit all Rugby World Cup 2015 Venues and Official Fanzones during the Tournament.
