‘Inspiration for Sport’ Rugby elite school’s player development workshop. Pupils were delivered sessions on coaching, psychology, conditioning, academic planning and career advice from local stars representing many different sports such as Iain Henderson (Ulster Rugby), Sam Lynch and Richard Archibald (Irish Rowing), Jimmy Kirkwood (Hockey Olympian) and Dick Clerkin (GAA). The guests were also given a talk from the Director of Swedish Rowing, Leif Pettersson on how performing at a high level in sport and academia can complement each other to achieve great results in both. The guests also packed in a tour of Queen’s University impressive sporting and teaching facilities. The Rugby players received advice on Strength and conditioning from Chris Shields (Ulster Rugby), Skill Development from Brian McLaughlin (Ulster Rugby) and Sports Psychology from Professor Cathy Craig (Queen’s University Belfast).
