With the heatwave upon us, beards across the UK are battling flakes, frizz and dryness. BRISK Grooming has worked with Charley McEwan – celeb stylist to the likes of Tom Hardy and Nicholas Hoult – for his top tips for keeping beards well groomed as temperatures soar.

KEEP IT CLEAN

“First off, I encourage my clients to shampoo their beards whilst they are in the shower (you should give it as much care and attention as the hair on your head!) using a specialist beard wash.”

STAY FLAKE FREE

“Keeping the skin and hair well hydrated and moisturised in the summer is key to looking groomed in the heat. Always use a good quality beard oil, such as the BRISK Intense Beard Oil (£7.99, 50ml – Boots), to help keep the skin under your beard flake free! I always recommend the BRISK Intense range to any celebrity clients that I work with who are keen to achieve a fuller looking beard! The formulation is rich in hard working Castor Oil and Hemp, and when used together, the Intense Beard & Face Wash and Intense Beard Oil help to support beard growth for a fuller, stronger and healthier looking beard.”

COMBAT FRIZZ

“My beard grooming must-have is a soft sandalwood beard comb, such as the Murdock London Keats Wood Beard Brush, which helps to keep each of the beard hairs moving the same way for a smooth effect. This is a really easy way to keep a beard looking groomed, fast!”

TOP CONDITION

“A top tip for keeping longer beards in good condition in the sun is to smooth some conditioner into your beard; this seals in the moisture and stops any salt or chlorine changing the hair colour.”

MOISTURE BOOST

“Keeping the skin well hydrated is key for maintaining a good complexion in the heat! I use the BRISK Moisturiser with Malt Extract (£3.50, 50ml – Morrisons) followed by Elemis Superfood Oil for an added boost of moisture!”
