VIRGINIA RFC U14s CONTINUE IMPRESSIVE START

Donegal RFC U14s travelled to Virginia on a damp Autumn Saturday morning.

The home side started very strong scoring the first try within the first two minutes with a ball out wide for Tyrone Tynan to score. Virginia were competing for every inch of the turf, and a second try came quickly from a pick and go from the back of the scrum by Kieran Duffy. Donegal kicked off straight to Conan Fitzpatrick who knocked the ball back for Glen McCabe to run from the half way to score the third. The fourth came from a great ball from a ruck which was passed out the right along the back line for Ben Curren to score a great try in the corner. Great tackling by Jack Carroll and Darren Kavanagh caused a knock on from Donegal, the ref played advantage and good passing by Nathan Tobin allowed Tyrone To run in for the fifth. Virginia’s tackling and defence in this game was second to none and they got in for a sixth as Tyrone completed his hatrick. The 7th try came from a Donegal Kick off, with Nathan running up the middle to score under the posts, four conversions from Malachy Walker making the half time score 43-0.

Virginia used the opportunity to put on all the subs in the second half. Aidan Kiernan forced a good turn over ball back to Jack Carroll who scored a cracking try. Jack scored again after, before Darren Kavanagh scored the next after a series of rucks from the Forwards. The next try again came though the forwards with Kieran Duffy getting his second. Tyrone Tynan added his fourth after some great work by the backs. Declan Burns produced a good tackle on a Donegal player forcing him to spill the ball from which Harry Leddy passed to Killian Smith, he made good forward yards supported by Tyrone and Cameron O’Reilly to score a try in the corner. Three Patrick Sheridan conversions making the final score 84-0.
