Firstly, greetings once again from Africa! Bhubesi Pride is now in northern Tanzania, where the team is in Arusha and Moshi this week and next, before we move south to Dar es Salaam and then onto Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa, working in a further nine schools and communities. As we continue through Africa, we’re not only updating our website blog with news features, great photos and verbal contributions from pupils, teachers and supporting NGO/union staff, we’re delighted to be collaborating with Lloyd Morgan Productions to bring you fantastic videos from Africa – and our first is now live on our website! Watch it now…

Showing highlights from our school visits in Ethiopia and Kenya, this first video gives a brief and relevant snapshot of our approach to unite school communities through the game of rugby and its values, empower and support local staff and inspire long-term rugby and community development through additional initiatives, such as our school linking programme.

Catch up on progress from Uganda and Rwanda

This first project video takes you up to our visit to Kenya but, after our time in Nairobi, Bhubesi Pride’s team moved south-west to Jinja in Uganda, where we met with Robert Bwali (Development Officer, Uganda Rugby Union) and carried out coaching sessions at three local schools: Naranbhai, Kiira and Spire Road.

Rwanda was full of enthusiasm, energy, fast-running rugby players of all ages and incredible levels of fitness – at high altitude! The team’s next base was with a further three local schools in the beautiful hills of the Rulindo district in northern Rwanda. We stayed at Tumba College and co-coached with Rwandan Rugby Federation boys: Ngabo John Leonard and Alexis Sibomana. The team finished the week with a fast-paced touch rugby game with the Jaguars players, as well as visiting Federation member, Alex Araire; the match refereed by Friends of Rwandan Rugby’s Kamanda Tharcisse.
