gem has teamed up with Queen’s University Rugby Football Club to become its principal sponsor for the forthcoming season. This is the second time that gem has ventured into sports sponsorship in its nine-year history, having previously sponsored the Belfast Giants Ice Hockey team in their early days.

“We hope that by sponsoring Queen’s RFC we can broaden our appeal to a new demographic of local people who may not have previously considered gem as a career option” said CEO Philip Cassidy.

“A large percentage of our employees are graduates from across Europe, however we would like to increase the number of local people we employ who are graduating from universities like Queen’s. We are hoping that this partnership will raise awareness of the gem brand amongst the local student population “, said HR Director Anita Acheson.

Stephen Elliott, Club President said: “We’re very grateful to gem for taking on the sponsorship of our rugby team and we believe this partnership will reap dividends for both parties.”

The relationship between Queens RFC and gem has brought mutual benefit with gem helping to revamp the club’s website, which can be seen at www.qubrfc.co.uk with updates of the latest news, fixtures and match reports.
