The Gala Dinner at the fabulous La Mon Hotel in support of Cois last Thursday, was as expected, a huge success. With upwards of 400 people attending, from all around the globe, this was going to be a very joyful but also a very emotional occasion on the night.
Family and friends from as far away as South Africa, Hong Kong and, Portugal as well as closer to home, made the journey and came to Belfast to pay tribute to one of our own.
Ulster Rugby was also well represented, with past and present players from the 80s and 90s, as well as the current Ulster squad, who came in their droves, to show their appreciation for big Cois. Clubs from the length and breath of Ulster also showed their support by turning up in big numbers to pay homage to this giant of a man.
Cois has made a huge impact on the rugby fraternity in Ulster and this was borne out by the standing ovations he received on numerous occasions throughout the night.
The auction and ballot were very well supported and the members of Ards RFC would like to extend a special thanks to everyone who attended or contributed in any way, to help make the evening such a memorable occasion.
Our thoughts and prayers now turn to Cois and his family as he continues with his courageous battle at this time, and we wish them all peace and happiness together.
