Stevenson Sharks, Dungannon RFC Special Needs Tag Rugby team, had its inaugural  joint training session at Stevenson Park with Newforge Taggers on Sunday.
The session was a complete success with more than fifty  players, coaches and parents  supporting what was a great morning of rugby. Newforge Taggers Director of Rugby Sam McBurney led a well run and fun session ably assisted by the Taggers and the Sharks coaches. The players were also treated to a visit by Ulster Rugby Mascot ‘Sparky’who was a real hit with player, coaches and parents.
Support for this venture could not have been achieved without the Newforge Taggers, Mencap and Ulster  Rugby aligning to the vision of The Stevenson Sharks fielding at least two teams by next season..  The invitation to play Special Needs Tag Rugby for the next three Sundays in October  now has to filter quickly throughout Mid Ulster that all are welcome.
It was very rewarding to see everyone walk away with smiles on their faces and with new and renewed appetite for rugby.
The Stevenson Sharks along with their Newforge Taggers counterparts were especially pleased when ‘Sparky’ the Ulster Rugby Mascot arrived down to support the event and mingle with the players.
After the session the players, coaches and parents relaxed and with refreshments on hand as Stevenson Sharks Patron Lord Maginnis of Drumglass was on hand to present Tim Craig and Sam McBurney of the Newforge Taggers The ‘Maginnis Cup’ to cement the sound friendship between the Taggers and the Sharks. Further taster sessions will be run on throughout October on the 10th, 17th and 24th, from 11am -12.15pm at
