Bangor knew this was the big one, and so did Clogher Valley – Amongst their ranks Q1 league winners 2-3 times in a row + Powerade towns cup + JNTR Cups and with the right number of younger Clogher Valley guys looking to establish themselves as AIL players. Bangor on the other hand arriving at the big game with real quality, real passion and desire to put together perfect and hard up front rugby played the way they know how TO WIN. But thats the level this championship winning side are playing at now, last years job is done and they face this year one of the highest levels of rugby around. Have they risen to the challenge – YES THEY HAVE! They count amongst their ranks guys like Mathew Baillie who have played against an entire professional rugby team in front of 2500 people while on a party tour of Italy. They have in their ranks the core rugby values, as displayed at the end of the game when they clapped Clogher Valley off the pitch.
With lLogher Valley it was watching our heroes from a few seasons ago who have played in the biggest amateur games around. The same guys who we photographed lifting all those cups in a series of seasons back to back for 4 years. These guys really played on Saturday a game that was mesmerisingly good. To think that a we area with a few towns like lLogher holds this talent and just 25 years old sends the hairs up your spine. We will never forget you guys, thank you for an amazing game. Davy Black on the sidelines who coached in front of a 1000+ clogher Valley supporters on Ravenhill season after season, brings a tear to your eye – seriously it DOES!
