In a weekend when all Clogher Valley sides won Timothy Smytons u 19s produced what will probably be the result of the season. Beating any Ballynahinch side is very difficult but travelling to and overcoming one of their youth sides is the ‘stuff of legend’. Coach Johnston Stafford was unstinting in his praise for the team, with Turner picked out for the highest accolade. Normally a centre he was switched to No 8 and proceeded to have an outstanding afternoon.
Clogher opened the scoring after a ‘Hinch fumble gifted them possession. Powerful ball carrying followed by clever exchanges of play resulted in centre Agnew crossing at the posts for a try which Coulter duly goaled. ‘Hinch struck back before half-time with a try of their own which went ungoaled.
The second half saw the Valley edge proceedings in terms of possession and territory. The pack produced quality possession, Eakin at outhalf distributed well giving centres McSorley and Agnew the space to cause problems for the home defence. But in the end it was both defences which dictated proceedings as the half progressed. It was left to the kickers to unlock the stalemate with Coulter exchanging penalties with his counterpart to complete the scoring.

This was a bit of a procession for the u17s scoring 10 tries and one conversion. Garrity crossed twice with McGirr, Wilkinson, L Wilson, Carruth, Hicks and skipper Keys adding one each. Not to be outdone subs Staunton and P Wilson left the bench to keep the scoring rate up by adding the final two tries. Beacom landed the only conversion.

Another fine showing by the u 13s on Saturday as they comfortably dealt with the visitors. Mills was the star of the show accounting for half the final total. He added five conversions to his two tries. McMaster, Morton, Caldbeck and Bothwell all crossed in this clinical display.
