Clogher Valley gained revenge over their Monaghan rivals with a six try win. Valley from the kick off made it clear who was in charge of the match and pined the visitors in their own half. Dean Robinson broke from the half way line and went around his opposite number only to be caught 10 meters from the line with a try saving tackle by the Monaghan full back. From a resulting scrum, 15 meters out, Valley’s number 8 Chris Hetherington picked the ball up from the back of the scrum and drove over to score the opening try, which was converted by James Beacom.

From the restart, Jordan Carruth broke on the left wing, came inside looking for support, Chris Hetherington took the ball a further 30 meters and passed to Willie Mahon, who drove over to score Valleys 2nd try. 12 points – 0 in the lead after 15 minutes, the Valley team were playing with confidence. Simon Carson broke from his own half, passed to Jordan Carruth, who slipped the ball to Robinson, then to Morgan Whiteside, finally James Beacom ran around the Monaghan defence to score Valleys 3rd try, which he converted. Half time saw the home side in control with a 19 – 0 lead.

The 2nd half was more of the same. Beacom broke several tackles and passed to Carson who out sprinted the defence over the remaining 35 meters to score, 24 – 0. Valley then went to sleep for a few minutes allowing the visitors to work their way up the pitch and push over for a try; 24 -7. This was the wake call the home side needed. A further two tries from Chris Hetherington and Jamie Armstrong left the Valley with a 34 – 7 points win. This was the teams best performance this season to date, with great interaction between forwards and backs and sets the team up for the final few matches of the 2011/12 season.
