CITY OF DERRY: McMaster new Derry Head Coach as Nicholl sacked

Terry McMaster is expected to be confirmed as new City of Derry Head Coach after Mark Nicholl was removed from the Judges Road post on Saturday last following a seven and a half year stint with the club.

McMaster returns alongside former player, Jason Mitchell, who will be the new forwards coach, with Neil Beddow retained as backs coach in the new set-up.

It is understood Nicholl – who was brought on board by former coach, Bevan Lynch – held a meeting last week to look at potential player recruitment for next season before being informed of the decision at the weekend.

“It’s very disappointing but that’s the way things work in this game,” said the Ballykelly man. “It’s not what I wanted, but I have to accept these decisions.
