Catch Up Michael Lawton Settling In Well
Michael Lawton has settled in very well at National 1 Side Fylde RFC, who’ve made him feel
very welcome, and so far has scored 85 points in 3 games for Fylde 2s
(Hawks) and played his first full game with the 1st XV at fullback against
Tynedale on Saturday. Didn’t score any points in that game, but was involved
in a number of ‘assists’ when they ran in 6 tries to win the game 38 – 3.

He’s been getting some great coaching at Fylde from former Sale Sharks coach
Mark Nelson and ex England and Ireland coach Brian Ashton and is really
relishing the free flowing rugby that suits his style i.e. pass and go.

They have a great setup at Fylde with some excellent facilities and
regularly get around 2000 spectators at their home games, so it’s a real
breath of fresh air for him as he plays his rugby and studies (Sports
studies) at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in Preston about 12
miles away.

The local media have been keeping a close eye on him also, and reported his
arrival at the Club and his debut on the 1s.
