Britain’s National Drink to be Celebrated on Beer Day Britain June 15th 2021

With pubs re-opening and Covid 19 lockdown restrictions being eased, these are reasons to celebrate Britain’s National drink on Beer Day Britain 2021.

Beer Day Britain, the UK’s national beer day, is held annually on June 15th and was first marked in 2015. It is now firmly established in the roster of Britain’s summertime events. The focus of the day is the National Cheers To Beer (#cheerstobeer) toast at 7pm. This simple activity is not only marked across the UK but beer drinkers around the world participate too. So many people join in that each year #cheerstobeer trends on social media on June 15th

Beer Sommelier Jane Peyton, Instigator and Project Manager of Beer Day Britain commented “Britain historically had the biggest influence in spreading the love of beer around the world. More styles of beer first brewed in this country are now brewed around the world than those of any other brewing nation. These include India Pale Ale, Pale Ale, Porter, Stout, Imperial Russian Stout, Mild, Bitter, Barley Wine, Brown Ale, and Scotch Ale.
We have so much to be proud of with Britain’s vibrant brewing heritage and current brewing scene and the fact that our pubs are a cornerstone of the social life of the nation.
Beer Day Britain is about celebrating a drink that unites humans regardless of their culture. During the pandemic we have been physically isolated from socialising with friends, and although continued social distancing measures will mean Beer Day Britain 2021 is different to previous years we can still raise a glass in cheers. Just remember to take a photo to post on social media with the hashtag #cheerstobeer at 7pm on Saturday 15th June and you’ll be part of Beer Day Britain.”

About Beer Day Britain

Beer Day Britain is an annual celebration on June 15th for all beer lovers and it celebrates beer from mainstream lager to limited edition craft beer and everything in between no matter where it is brewed.
June 15th is significant because that is also the date Magna Carta was sealed in 1215. The great charter mentions ale in Article 35.
‘Let there be throughout our kingdom a single measure for wine and a single measure for ale and a single measure for corn…..’
Ale was so important in England in 1215 that it was cited in one of the most significant legal documents in history. Today beer and pubs are still central to British life and seven out of 10 drinks sold in a pub are beer.
