Ballyshannon travelled with a panel of 14 players but kept their heads right from the start and fought hard and had accounted for three tries in the opening ten minutes.
Colm Doyle showed great pace and strength breaking three tackles to score under the posts, so after the kick off the ball was brought on by the forwards for three phases and then was shipped out to the safe hands of new and rising star Oisin Rooney.
Shortly afterwards Ballyshannon exposed the opposition back-line again and Bari Kane scored a trademark try handing off three players and breaking two tackles to score.
This passage was followed by some great rucking by Kieran Daly who cleared three attacking plays single handed and a pick and pop to Jonathan O Brien seen both players bind up together and drive over the line to put Shannon into a commanding 39-0 lead at half time.
Early after the restart Tir Chonaill powered back into the game with three great tries and a conversion but after a 4th attempt at a score John Diedrichs fielded a ball and ran the length of the pitch to score under the posts. Ballyshannon took control of the game again and a beautiful passage of play seen Oisin Rooney and Brendan Gillespie play a sweet 1-2 over forty yards and beating countless numbers of players to score the try of the day to seal the win at 66-32.
A great team performance all round which coach Shane Roper will be very p[leased with but will be disappointed that his travelling under 13’s did not get a game on the day!
