Malone IV take this years friendly honours.

After receiving a 10-0 defeat at Limepark last year , it was ironic that it was the same scoreline this season this time however with Armoy being on the losing end.
As expected it was a closely contested match with all the points coming in the last 10 minutes of the match. Armoy were to be congratulated for their efforts particularly in defennce but could really have no complaints as overall it would be fair to say that Malone were probably worthy winners on the day. In the end they had fresh legs in abundance as they had a sqaud of 23 players compared to the 16 of Armoy. It was an impressive debut for new player/coach Ian Caldwell who along with Captain Gareth Christie lead by example. Notable mentions must go to Kyle Greenlaw who had a great match and showed some tenacious tackling skills in his first game for Armoy since his transfer from Coleraine and for Ryan McKinley who was playing in his first ever match and showed some great handling and running with the ball on the wing against one of the better teams that play at this level of rugby.

Captain Gareth Christie would like to thanks all who travelled and was understanding of those who couldn’t make it through work and other commitments. Lets have a good turn out for training in prepartion for the up coming league opener against Ballymoney V at Limepark on Saturday.
