Ards under 19s travelled to Portadown for this league fixture, Ards started at a blistering pace with an excellent unconverted try in the fourth minute for winger Adam Coulter. Ards kept up the pressure keeping Portadown pinned in their 22, fly half Andy Savage scored a penalty in the 15th minute to extend the lead to 8 points.
Conran Stewart was unstoppable in the 18th minute crashing through the Portadown defence to score which was converted by Savage. Continued great play by the whole Ards team and phase after phase paid off again in the 27th minute when Savage slotted over another penalty to bring the score to 18 nil.
On the verge of half time Portadown opened their account with an easy penalty.
A totally different Portadown came out after the break and scored an early converted try. Ricky Aston pressurised the Portadown full back and turned over the play with the ball arriving to flanker Ben Smith to crash over for a great try Savage was unlucky with the conversion. This was answered with a scrappy Portadown try and conversion, Ards held on to come out deserved 23 – 17 winners.

Referees ‘Appreciation’ Society
Had a look at the club Forum lately to see what some of the referee’s think of the setup at Ards this season.
Just goes to show that there are one or two ‘decent’ refs out there after all and not all of them need to go to ‘Specsavers.’ Thanks for the compliments chaps and keep up the good work for without you there would be no rugby.
