I work in both stoneware and raku. My stoneware includes tableware, tiles and sculptural pieces.
I like the discipline and refined qualities of the tableware and other functional pieces. I love the challenge of making a pot that works well and feels comfortable and balanced to lift and use. The glaze is my own recipe – it has a satin finish and can be used in the oven, microwave, dishwasher and freezer.
My non-functional work gives me the freedom to play more with form and surface pattern to create a piece of a series of related sculptural works.
