1st XV have losing bonus point defeat at Thomond 19-12

We returned on saturday night with only a losing bonus point from a long trip to Thomond in Limerick.
That point was secured with a converted penalty from the last play of the game and like the one earned earlier at Queens could prove vital at the end of the season.
The differences in the two sides were Thomonds upperhand in the scrum and maul.
Plus Instonians penalising themselves again with a heavy penalty count against. We spent 20 minutes of the game with only 14 players. There is still a lot for some players to learn here.
The line-out gets better with every game and we are starting to see line breaks from the backline.
With the introduction of rolling subs this year, every player was utilised and had their part to play.
Still a lot to improve on but we have the players to do it.
This week we have a break from the All Ireland League and play at Queens in the senior cup.

Played on 15 October Lisburn turned up with just 13 players which meant that we had to play a 13 aside game. It was over as a contest after just 20 minutes – Instonians had scored 6 tries: 2 by captain Ryan Law, hooker Chris McMenamy and prop Sean Shuttleworth had their first tries of the season. out-half Chris Moffat had one of his own and converted 3 others. It was 41-0 at half-time. Ben Davis started the second half with a well taken try before Ryan Law added two more and tight-head Ryan Hickie – who impressed throughout – had one to show for all his efforts. The scorring ended when Peter Hall ran the length of the pitch to score at the posts. In his yellow boots and with 4tries Ryan Law had to be man of the match! But Ryan Hickie, in his red boots, had to be a close contender!
