Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Round Up Saturday 29th November 2025.
Quite a few games were played during the week in the lead up to the fourth series of games in the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup Group Stage matches.
On Monday 24th November, the Meadowbank Stadium in Magherafelt was the venue when Antrim Grammar School 1stxv and 2ndxv provided the opposition for the Ulster Clubs’ U17 and U18 teams.
The Ulster U17 Clubs’ team won their game against Antrim Grammar School 2ndxv by 45-5.
Oliver Skelly, Banbridge RFC and Josh Morrow, Finn Valley RFC, each scored two tries with Dawson Crawford, Strabane RFC, Tom Little, Civil Service RFC and Ruairi Mason, Bangor RFC, each touching down for one try.
Oliver Skelly capped a fine personal performance with five successful conversion kicks.
David McFarland touched down for an unconverted try for the very spirited Antrim Grammar School 2ndxv.
The Ulster U18 Clubs’ team won their game against Antrim Grammar School 1stxv by 41-12.
Lorcan Mantell, Banbridge RFC, ran in for a hattrick of tries, Ayrton Pienaar, Virginia RFC, touched down for a brace, with Thomas McPhillips, Ballynahinch RFC, and JJ McVeigh, Academy RFC, scoring one try each for the Ulster U18 Clubs’ team.
Conor Frazer, Malone RFC, was successful with three of his conversion kicks.
The Antrim Grammar School team, with Jonah Woolley to the fore, contributed a lot to the pace of the game.
The Antrim Grammar School team got reward for their endeavours when Jake Quigley touched down for two tries, one of which was converted by Isaac Lynn.
On Tuesday 25th November, Ballyclare High School 3rdxv played Bangor Grammar School 3rdxv in the first round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup.
The Ballyclare High School 3rdxv won this game by 56-15.
On the same afternoon, Strabane Academy played Limavady Grammar School in the 2nd Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield.
This Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield game proved to be a very closely contested game the Limavady Grammar School team won by 15-10.
In the same competition, Wellington College made a welcome return to Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ competition fixtures when they hosted Portadown College in their Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield Round 2 game.
The Portadown College team won this high scoring, fast paced Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield encounter by 32-27.
On Wednesday 26th November, two more Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup Round 1 games took place when Banbridge Academy 3rdxv played Foyle and Londonderry College 3rdxv
Following a high scoring encounter, it was the Foyle College team that emerged as 45-33 winners.
Royal Belfast Academical Institution 5thxv played Omagh Academy 3rdxv in a game the Omagh Academy 3rdxv won by 24-7.
In the 2nd Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield, Belfast High School played Antrim Grammar School in a game the Antrim Grammar School team won by 10-5.
It was a busy day on Saturday 29th November when one Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup Round 1 game took place alongside four Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield Round 2 games, eight Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup Group Stage games as well as a series of 1stxv friendly games.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup, Down High School 3rdxv played Campbell College, Belfast 4thxv in a game the Campbell College, Belfast 4thxv won by 31-5.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield, Cambridge House Grammar School played Regent House School in a game the Regent House School team won by 17-6.
Dalriada School hosted Friends’ School, Lisburn in a game the Friends’ School, Lisburn team won by 40-12.
Dromore High School played Grosvenor Grammar School in a game refereed by that most experienced of USRFR members, Mark Orr.
This very closely contested Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield Round 2 game ended with Dromore High School recording a hard earned 7-5 victory.
Foyle and Londonderry College played Enniskillen Royal Grammar School in a game the Enniskillen Royal Grammar School team won by 14-0.
In Group A of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup, Ballyclare High School played Belfast High School and won by 54-14.
Lewis Flynn, Jude Semple, Austin Adair, Zach Thompson, Paddy McCleary, Joshua Tweed, David Jenkins and Ryan Foods were the Ballyclare High School try scorers.
The remaining Ballyclare High School points came from the trusty boot of James Woodside.
The Belfast High School team scored two tries through Ben Gardner and Evan Prior.
Ben added one successful conversion kick with Matthew McCabe adding a second.
Omagh Academy hosted Bangor Grammar School at the Campsie Playing Fields and won the game by 14-7.
Isaac Crawford and David Liggett scored the Omagh Academy tries to which Sam Harper added two successful conversion kicks.
Jamie Flynn scored a try for the Bangor Grammar School team with Ryan Gowdy adding the extras to the try.
In Group B of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup, Cambridge House Grammar School played Dromore High School in a game the Dromore High School team won by 7-5.
The Cambridge House Grammar School points came through an unconverted try from Tom Murphy.
The Dromore High School team points came through a try from Andrew Waugh which was converted by Alfie Clarke.
Limavady Grammar School played Rainey Endowed School in a game the Rainey Endowed School team won, with almost the last play of the game, by 20-17.
The Limavady Grammar School team points came through a try from Ewan Brennan and four successful penalty kicks from Alexander Howe.
Luke Caskey, Lorcan McLarnon and James Bell scored the Rainey Endowed School team tries.
Adrian Martin added one successful penalty kick as well as one successful conversion kick.
In Group C of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup, Banbridge Academy played Bangor Academy and won the game by 40-0
Dawson Knox, Charlie Geoghegan, Ethan Houston, Arturs Jonuss and Conor Patton were the Banbridge Academy try scorers to which Max Ireland added five successful conversion kicks.
Portadown College hosted Royal School, Dungannon in a game Royal School, Dungannon team won by 16-14.
The Portadown College points came through a penalty try, a try from Sam Bentley along with one successful conversion kick from Charlie Rodgers.
James Gibson scored all the Royal School, Dungannon points with a try, conversion as well three successful penalty kicks.
In Group D of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup, Foyle and Londonderry College played Friends’ School, Lisburn in a game the Foyle College team won by 24-14.
Cian O’Leary, with a hattrick, and George Rough scored the Foyle and Londonderry College tries with Niall Kelly adding two successful conversion kicks.
Max Warwick and Scott Henderson scored the Friends’ School, Lisburn tries with Ross Glover adding two successful conversion kicks.
The Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup Group Stage D game involving Larne Grammar School and Coleraine Grammar School has had to have been rescheduled for Wednesday 3rd December
In the remaining 1stxv games, Antrim Grammar School was scheduled to have played Lurgan College but the game has been rescheduled for 13th December.
Belfast Royal Academy played Regent House School in a game the Regent House School team won by 31-21.
Blake McCloskey, Daniel Ogilby and Daniel Henderson scored the Belfast Royal Academy tries.
Connor McVicker was successful with all three of his conversion kicks.
The Regent House School team scored four tries through Tom Bell, with two, Lewis Robinson and Fintan McDonald.
Zach McMinn was successful with all four conversion kicks as well as with one penalty kick.
Campbell College, Belfast played Sullivan Upper School in a game the Campbell College, Belfast team won by 24-7.
Rory Adair, Dylan Armstrong, David Nelson and Xander Megarity scored the Campbell College, Belfast tries with Jack Best adding two successful conversion kicks.
The Sullivan Upper School points came through a try from Sam Galbraith which was converted by Henry Calvert.
Methodist College, Belfast played Wallace High School in a game the Methodist College, Belfast team won by 21-12.
Peter Molloy, Peter Lindsay and Ruairi Kennedy scored the Methodist College, Belfast tries.
Louis Curran added all three successful conversion kicks.
Thomas McCambley and Luka Matchett each scored a try for the Wallace High School team with Alex Stevenson adding one successful conversion kick.
Royal Belfast Academical Institution played Royal School, Armagh in a closely contested game the Royal Belfast Academical Institution team won by 21-17.
Adam Boyd, Connor Patton and Ross Dillon scored the Royal Belfast Academical Institution tries with Charlie O’Connor adding three successful conversion kicks.
The Royal School, Armagh team points came through tries from Joshua Crawford, Tom Kennedy and Nathan Hamilton with Tom adding one successful conversion kick.
