Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Round Up Saturday 21st February 2026.
On Monday 16th February, Dromore High School played Antrim Grammar School in their previously postponed Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Bowl 1/4 Final game.
The Dromore High School team won this game by 19-7 and will now play Enniskillen Royal Grammar School in the 1/2 Final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Bowl.
Thomas Skelly, with a brace, and Harry Cromie scored the Dromore High School tries with Alfie Clarke adding two successful conversion kicks.
The Antrim Grammar School points came through a try from Matthew Stewart which was converted by Isaac Lynn.
On Wednesday 18th February, the three Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv competition finals took place.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup Final, Ballymena Academy played Royal Belfast Academical Institution at the Belfast Royal Academy playing fields at Roughfort.
The game, played in difficult overhead conditions, ended with the Royal Belfast Academical Institution 2ndxv team winning by 19-3.
After the final whistle, Laurence Rocke, immediate Past President of the Ulster Branch, Irish Rugby Football Union, congratulated both teams, as well as their coaches, on reaching the final, thanked the parents/guardians of all the players for their support given to the players throughout the season, thanked the referee, Graham Gibson and his team, for the way in which they controlled the game, thanked Karl Warner, Chris McCarey, Anton and the Belfast Royal Academy ground staff, for the use of facilities and hosting the game and thanked the Danske Bank for their continued support, now in its 21st season, of all the Ulster Schools’ competitions.
Laurence then went on to present the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup finalist medals to all the players involved and the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup to Owen Walker, captain of the victorious Royal Belfast Academical Institution 2ndxv team.
The Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Plate final took place at Pirrie Park, where Belfast Royal Academy played Sullivan Upper School in a game the Sullivan Upper School team won by 17-0.
After the final whistle, former International Referee and a Past President of the Irish Rugby Football Union, Stephen Hilditch, congratulated both teams, as well as their coaches, on reaching the final, thanked the parents/guardians of all the players for their support given to the players throughout the season, thanked the referee, Shane Toolan and his team, for the way in which they controlled the game, thanked Nick Wells and the Methodist College ground staff, for the use of facilities and hosting the game and thanked the Danske Bank for their continued support, now in its 21st season, of all the Ulster Schools’ competitions.
Stephen then went on to present the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Plate finalist medals to all the players involved and the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Plate to Ruudi McKimm, captain of the victorious Sullivan Upper School 2ndxv team.
Meanwhile, at the WK Armstrong pitch at the Royal School, Dungannon, Foyle and Londonderry College played Bangor Grammar School in the final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Trophy.
This was a very closely contested game from which the Bangor Grammar School team emerged as 24-21 winners.
After the final whistle, Paula Stewart, current Junior Vice President of the Ulster Branch, Irish Rugby Football Union, congratulated both teams, as well as their coaches, on reaching the final, thanked the parents/guardians of all the players for their support given to the players throughout the season, thanked the referee, Jo Stafford and his team, for the way in which they controlled the game, thanked Richard Clingan, David Riddles and the Royal School, Dungannon ground staff, for the use of facilities and hosting the game and thanked the Danske Bank for their continued support, now in its 21st season, of all the Ulster Schools’ competitions.
Paula then went on to present the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Trophy finalist medals to all the players involved and the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Trophy to Josh Breadon, captain of the victorious Bangor Grammar School 2ndxv team.
On Friday 20th February, Foyle and Londonderry College 3rdxv played Sullivan Upper School 3rdxv in the 1/2 Final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Trophy.
The Sullivan Upper School 3rdxv won this game by 27-0.
On Saturday 21st February, Pirrie Park was the venue when Belfast Royal Academy played Friends’ School, Lisburn in the final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Bowl.
The Belfast Royal Academy team won this game by 22-12.
After the final whistle, Alan Egner, Chair of the Ulster Rugby Committee, congratulated both teams, as well as their coaches, on reaching the final, thanked the parents/guardians of all the players for their support given to the players throughout the season, thanked the referee, Neil Robertson and his team of Chris Cahoon and Matthew Stone, for the way in which they controlled the game, thanked Nick Wells and the Methodist College ground staff, for the use of facilities and hosting the game and thanked the Danske Bank for their continued support, now in its 21st season, of all the Ulster Schools’ competitions.
Alan then went on to present the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Bowl finalist medals to all the players involved and the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Bowl to Connor Doyle who captained the victorious Belfast Royal Academy Medallion team on the day.
As well as the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Bowl final taking place on Saturday 21st February, the semi-finals of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield, Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Plate, Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Subsidiary Shield, Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Bowl, Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Trophy as well as the second semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup all took place.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield, Coleraine Grammar School played Wallace High School at the Rainey Endowed School in Magherafelt.
The Wallace High School team won this closely contested encounter by 14-12.
Meanwhile, at Wallace High School, Sullivan Upper School played Royal School, Armagh in a game the Sullivan Upper School team won by 45-0.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Plate, Ballymena Academy hosted Ballyclare High School and won the game by 28-5
Campbell College, Belfast played Rainey Endowed School and won the game by 40-0.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Subsidiary Shield, Belfast Royal Academy played Royal School, Armagh.
At the end of this high scoring game, the Belfast Royal Academy team emerged as 27-26 winners when Connor McVicker added the conversion to a last play of the game Belfast Royal Academy try.
The Belfast Royal Academy try scorers were Connor McVicker, Daniel Bell, Alex French and Jayden Irwin.
Connor capped a fine personal performance with two successful conversions as well as one successful penalty kick.
The Royal School, Armagh team scored four tries through Charlie Reaney, Sam Gray, with a brace and Paddy Seweryn.
Tom Kennedy was successful with three of his conversion kicks.
Coleraine Grammar School hosted Ballyclare High School and won the game by 10-7.
On the back of a good performance from Joshua Hawe, the Coleraine Grammar School team scored their points with a try from Alec Doherty, which was converted by Ben Todd who also kicked one successful penalty goal.
The Ballyclare High School team points came through a Zach Thompson try which was converted by James Woodside.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Bowl, Dromore High School played Enniskillen Royal Grammar School in a game the Enniskillen Royal Grammar School team won by 29-12.
Harry Cromie ran in for the two Dromore High School tries with Alfie Clarke adding one successful conversion kick.
The Enniskillen Royal Grammar School team points came through tries from Adam Little, Jake Irwin, Callan Kelly, with two, and Ben Wallace.
Sam Paton was successful with two of his conversion kicks.
Limavady Grammar School was scheduled to have played Bangor Grammar School but the game has had to have been rescheduled.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Trophy, Belfast High School played Foyle and Londonderry College in a game the Foyle College team won by 36-7.
James Wylie scored the Belfast High School try to which Ben Gardner added the extras.
The Foyle College points came through tries from Thom O’Neill, with two, Cian O’Leary, Vadim Khodakov, Luke Wilson and Thomas Nelis.
Darwyn Nutt was successful with three of his conversion kicks.
Omagh Academy hosted Grosvenor Grammar School in a game the Omagh Academy team won by 21-7.
Eoin McCusker, Matthew McClung and Sam Harper scored the Omagh Academy tries with Sam adding all three successful conversion kicks.
The Grosvenor Grammar School points came through a try from Sam Ferguson which was converted by Peter Ward.
In the second semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup, Campbell College, Belfast 3rdxv played Campbell College, Belfast 4thxv.
The Campbell College, Belfast 3rdxv won this game by 40-5.
