Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Round Up Saturday 17th January 2026.

On Monday 12th January, Larne Grammar School played the Ulster Clubs’ U18 team at the Meadowbank Arena in Magherafelt.
The Larne Grammar School team emerged as 21-19 winners at the end of this close encounter.
Conor Frazer, Malone RFC, Ayrton Pienaar, Virginia RFC and Alex Courtney, Dungannon FC, scored the Ulster Clubs’ tries with Conor Frazer adding two successful conversion kicks.
Ryan McDowell, Ralph Wilson and the impressive Corbin Marsden scored the Larne Grammar School tries with Jonnie Kennedy adding all three successful conversion kicks.
On Tuesday 13th January, Foyle and Londonderry College 3rdxv hosted Enniskillen Royal Grammar School 3rdxv in a Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Round of Sixteen Trophy game.
The Foyle College team won this game by 22-15.
On Wednesday 14th January, Royal School, Armagh played Enniskillen Royal Grammar School in their previously postponed 1stxv friendly game.
The Royal School, Armagh team recorded a 42-0 victory with tries from Charlie Reaney, Nathan Hamilton, Finlay Starrett, Ryan Hamilton and Sam Grey.
Tom Kennedy was successful with all his conversion kicks.
Wallace High School travelled to play Cistercian College, Roscrea at Castleknock College in Dublin.
The Cistercian College, Roscrea team won the game by 34-10.
The Wallace High School team scored one try through Bailie Reid with Alex Stevenson adding the successful conversion kick as well as one penalty goal.
The Cistercian College, Roscrea points came through tries from Ronan O’Neill, with two, Jack Hayes, Harry Finlay, with two and James Miller.
Aaron Moloney was successful with two of his conversion kicks.
Both teams, and their coaches, would like to thank Castleknock College, Dublin for the provision of facilities and hosting the game.
On the same afternoon, Friends’ School, Lisburn and Ballyclare High School played out a controlled 3 x 20 minutes training game which both teams found useful in preparation for forthcoming Danske Bank competition games.
Players such as Lewis Flynn, Josh McColgan, Tom Falls and Jude Semple impressed all the coaches with their performances for the Ballyclare High School team as did players such as Adrian Lough, Ollie Louge, Daniel Kerr and Will Smyth with their performances for the Friends’ School, Lisburn team.
Also, on the same afternoon, two Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup games took place.
Methodist College, Belfast 3rdxv played Royal School, Armagh 3rdxv in the 1/4 Final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup.
The Methodist College, Belfast 3rdxv won this game by 43-19.
At the same stage of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup, Campbell College, Belfast 3rdxv hosted Royal Belfast Academical Institution 3rdxv in a game which finished as a 17-17 draw.
On Thursday 15th January, Omagh Academy 2ndxv played Belfast High School 2ndxv in the 1/4 Final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Trophy.
The Omagh Academy 2ndxv won this game by 40-0.
On Saturday 17th January, Ballyclare High School 2ndxv hosted Campbell College, Belfast 2ndxv in the 1/4 Final Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup.
The final score in this game was Ballyclare High School 7 Campbell College, Belfast 19
In the same competition, Rainey Endowed School 2ndxv played Ballymena Academy 2ndxv in a game the Ballymena Academy won by 21-10.
Royal School, Armagh 2ndxv hosted Methodist College, Belfast 2ndxv in a game the Methodist College, Belfast team won by 38-10.
Wallace High School 2ndxv played Royal Belfast Academical Institution 2ndxv in a game the Royal Belfast Academical Institution team won by 43-3.
In the 1/4 Finals of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Plate, three games took place
Down High School 2ndxv played Belfast Royal Academy 2ndxv in a game the Belfast Royal Academy team won by 50-7.
Royal School, Dungannon 2ndxv played Friends’ School, Lisburn 2ndxv and won the game by 27-8.
Regent House School 2ndxv played Enniskillen Royal Grammar School 2ndxv and recorded a 27-13 victory.
In the 1/4 Finals of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Trophy, the remaining three games took place.
Bangor Grammar School 2ndxv played Dalriada School 2ndxv and won the game by 40-0.
Limavady Grammar School 2ndxv played Banbridge Academy 2ndxv and won the closely contested game by 8-7.
Foyle and Londonderry College 2ndxv played Portadown College 2ndxv and recorded a 19-10 victory.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield Round of Sixteen, all eight games took place on Saturday 17th January.
Ballyclare High School hosted Methodist College, Belfast in a game the Methodist College, Belfast team won by 26-0.
Ballymena Academy played Royal Belfast Academical Institution in a game the Royal Belfast Academical Institution team won by 31-10.
Campbell College, Belfast played Coleraine Grammar School in a late kick off game the Coleraine Grammar School team won by 19-12.
Grosvenor Grammar School played Enniskillen Royal Grammar School in a game the Enniskillen Royal Grammar School team won by 7-3.
Omagh Academy played Rainey Endowed School and recorded a 31-7 victory.
Royal School, Armagh played Regent House School and won the game by 19-17.
Sullivan Upper School entertained Banbridge Academy and won the game by 25-0.
Wallace High School hosted Larne Grammar School and recorded a 41-5 win.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Bowl, Belfast Royal Academy played Portadown College and recorded a 22-5 victory.
Down High School played Friends’ School, Lisburn in a game the Friends’ School, Lisburn team won by 29-19.
Limavady Grammar School played Bangor Grammar School and won the game by 13-7.
Royal School, Dungannon played Antrim Grammar School and won the game by 52-14.
The remaining three games in the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Trophy 1/4 Finals took place on Saturday 17th January.
Belfast High School played Dromore High School and recorded a 22-14 victory.
Dalriada School played Cambridge House Grammar School in a game the Cambridge House Grammar School team won by 38-7.
Foyle and Londonderry College had a “walkover” result against Bangor Academy.
As well as all the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield, Bowl and Trophy games and the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup, Plate and Trophy games, a number of 1stxv friendly games took place on Saturday 17th January.
Belfast Royal Academy played Dromore High School in a game the Belfast Royal Academy won by 49-7.
Caleb McWhinney, Connor McVicker, Daniel Bell, Ben Forsythe-Horan, Blake McCloskey, Harry O’Kane and James Murray were the Belfast Royal Academy try scorers with Connor McVicker successfully adding all the conversion kicks.
The Dromore High School team, for whom players such as Andrew Waugh and Alfie Clarke impressed, gained their points through a penalty try.
Lurgan College played Omagh Academy in a game the Omagh Academy team won by 29-19.
The Lurgan College points came through tries from Daniel Wilson, Seth Martin and Andrew Bird to which Ben Maxwell added two successful conversion kicks.
The Omagh Academy points came through tries from Ryan Mitchell, Sam Harper, with two, Lewis Mc Ivor and Joshua Orr.
The talented Sam Harper was also successful with two of his conversion kicks.
Banbridge Academy and Down High School played out a 3 x 20 minutes controlled training game which both teams found useful in preparation for their forthcoming Danske Bank competition games.
Players such as Sam Leslie, Luke Wills, Max Ireland and Patrick McElroy impressed all the coaches with their performances for the Banbridge Academy squad as did players such as Matthew Horner, Ruben Watson, Paddy Dooley and Joe Bailie with their performances for the Down High School team.
Rainey Endowed School and Coleraine Grammar School played out a 3 x 20 minutes controlled training game which both teams found useful in preparation for their forthcoming Danske Bank competition games.
Players such as Eli Culbertson, Adrian Martin, James Fullerton and James Bell impressed all the coaches with their performances for the Rainey Endowed School team as did players such as Joshua Hawe, Richie Smyth, Joshua Chambers and James Coates with their performances for the Coleraine Grammar School team.
Royal School, Dungannon and Friends’ School, Lisburn out a 3 x 20 minutes controlled training game which both teams found useful in preparation for their forthcoming Danske Bank competition games.
Players such as James Gibson, Blake Redmond, Matthew Smith and Joel Clarke impressed all the coaches with their performances for the Royal School, Dungannon team as did players such as Harry Brady, Scott Henderson, Zac Wilson and Oliver Logue with their performances for the Friends’ School, Lisburn team.
