Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Round Up Saturday 20th December 2025.

Despite the imminent onset of the end of a busy term, there was still quite a few Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv, 3rdxv and Medallion Shield games played, as well as a few 1stxv friendly fixtures, in the lead up to Saturday 20th December.
On Monday 15th December, the Meadowbank Arena in Magherafelt was the venue when Dalriada School played the Ulster Clubs’ U18 team.
The Ulster Clubs’ U18 team won the game by 40-7, scoring six tries in the process.
Matthew McCamphill scored the Dalriada School try which was converted by Chris Finney.
Matthew McAllister, Banbridge RFC, Ayrton Pienaar, Virginia RFC, with two, David Dragan, Dungannon FC, Conor Frazer, Malone RFC and Alexander Courtney, Dungannon FC, scored the Ulster Clubs’ tries.
Conor Frazer added four successful conversion kicks with Joshua Woods, Ballynahinch RFC, adding a fifth successful conversion kick.
On Tuesday 16th December, Royal School, Armagh 2ndxv played Belfast Royal Academy 2ndxv in the 3rd Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup.
The Royal School, Armagh team won this very closely contested game by 27-26.
On the same afternoon, Grosvenor Grammar School played Portadown College in the 3rd Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield.
This game finished with a scoreline of Grosvenor Grammar School 32 Portadown College 29.
At the same stage of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield, Royal School, Armagh played Antrim Grammar School.
The Royal School, Armagh team won this game by 48-5.
It was a busy afternoon at Royal School, Armagh as their 3rdxv played Enniskillen Royal Grammar School 3rdxv in the 2nd Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup.
The Royal School, Armagh 3rdxv won this game by 37-0.
In the 1st Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Trophy, Wellington College, Belfast hosted Strabane Academy in a high scoring game the Wellington College, Belfast team won by 42-21.
On Wednesday 17th December, three more Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup Round 3 games took place.
Campbell College, Belfast played Royal School, Dungannon and won the game by 40-0.
Rainey Endowed School played Down High School and recorded a 40-0 victory.
Regent House School played Methodist College, Belfast in a game the Methodist College, Belfast team won by 40-0.
In the 1st Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Trophy, Antrim Grammar School played Limavady Grammar School in a game the Limavady Grammar School team won by 17-12.
Belfast High School hosted Dromore High School and won the game by 45-5.
Dalriada School played Lurgan College and won the game by 33-5.
In the 2nd Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup, Campbell College, Belfast 3rdxv played Royal Belfast Academical Institution 4thxv.
The Campbell College, Belfast 3rdxv won this game by 33-7.
Methodist College, Belfast 4thxv hosted Belfast Royal Academy 3rdxv in a game the Belfast Royal Academy 3rdxv won by 45-12.
Two 1stxv friendly games took place on Wednesday 17th December.
Lurgan College played Grosvenor Grammar School in a game the Grosvenor Grammar School team won by 21-10.
The Lurgan College points came through an Andrew Bird try, alongside a conversion and penalty from Ben Maxwell.
Adam Osborne, James Campbell and Ollie Hobson touched down for the Grosvenor Grammar School tries with Peter Ward adding three successful conversion kicks.
Rainey Endowed School hosted Sullivan Upper School in a game the Sullivan Upper School team won by 19-7.
Adrian Martin scored the Rainey Endowed School try to which he added the conversion.
The Sullivan Upper School team scored three tries through Patrick Whiteside, Bryn Topping and Lucas McKeown.
Henry Calvert was successful with two of his conversion kicks
On Friday 19th December, Ballyclare High School hosted Coleraine Grammar School in their Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup Round 3 game.
The Ballyclare High School 2ndxv won this game by 22-14.
At the same time, Ballyclare High School 1stxv, fresh from a successful tour to Spain, played Coleraine Grammar School in a training game which was designed to assist both players and coaches with their preparations for their forthcoming Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup Round of Sixteen games scheduled to take place on Saturday 24th January.
On Saturday 20th December, one Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ friendly game took place when Royal School, Armagh hosted Ballymena Academy in a game the Ballymena Academy team won by 38-0.
Harry Lamont, with two, Billy Wylie, Jacob Casson, James McMillan and Zac Topping were the Ballymena Academy try scorers.
James McMillan capped a fine personal performance with four successful conversion kicks.
On Tuesday 16th December, the draws for the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup and the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Bowl Round of Sixteen games took place in the AL Goodbody Lounge at the Affidea Stadium.
The draws were organised by Richard Clingan, Chairman of the Ulster Schools’ Committee and conducted by Paul Hart, President of the Ulster Branch, IRFU and Kevin Heavern, Head of Marketing, Danske Bank.
