Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Round Up Saturday 2nd November 2019

Despite the fact that schools were on a well-deserved half term break a couple of games were played in the course of the week.
On Tuesday 29th Enniskillen Royal Grammar School hosted Terenure College from Dublin. At the end of what was a very close encounter it was the Enniskillen Royal Grammar School team that emerged as 21-19 winners. The Enniskillen RGS points came from tries from Callum Smyton, who touched down twice, and Neil Rutledge. Eddie Keyes added two conversions with one conversion from George Foster.
On Wednesday 30th October Regent House School played Banbridge Academy in a game where both teams had players unavailable due to holidays and IRFU Age Grade Camps. The Regent House team won the game by 22-14 but the Banbridge Academy team made them work hard for the victory.
The Regent House team scored four tries through Hasan Kaymak, who ran in for two, Callum Dawson and Ryan Upritchard. Joe Hopes was successful with one conversion.
The Banbridge Academy team had taken an early 7-0 lead when their centre, Jake Houston, ran in for a try which was converted by their captain for the day, Harry Patterson. Harry then added to his growing reputation when, following good work from his flanker, Marc Murphy, he touched down for a second half try to which he added the conversion.
On Thursday 31st October Cambridge House Grammar School played the Rainey Endowed School team in a game the Cambridge House School team won by 34-21. The Rainey Endowed School team had built up a 14-12 lead by the break following an evenly contested first half.
The Cambridge House team scored tries through James McNabney and Adam Brannigan with one conversion from Josh Caldwell. The Rainey Endowed School points came through tries from Daniel Barfoot and Sebastian Hastings, both of which were converted by Ross Speers.
A third Rainey Endowed School try and conversion from Ross Speers, in the early stages of the second half, gave the Magherafelt team a 21-12 lead. The Cambridge House team countered with second half tries from Stuart Donald, Zac Crozier and Micah McIntyre as well as a penalty from Jordan McMullan. Jordan and Josh Caldwell added two conversions to the tries which secured the 34-21 victory for the Cambridge House Grammar School team.
On Saturday 2nd November Wallace High School played Enniskillen Royal Grammar School in a very closely contested game the Wallace High School team won by 36-35. The Wallace High School team had players involved such as Nathan Doak and Ben Carson both of whom had participated in IRFU Age Grade Camps earlier in the week. The Wallace High School team scored tries through Cameron Doak, Ben Carson, Harry Wallace and Nathan Doak. Nathan converted three of the tries as well as one penalty. The Wallace High School team was also awarded a penalty try.
The Enniskillen Royal Grammar School team scored five tries through David Stinson, who touched down twice, Stuart Brown, Mattie Bothwell and Sam Balfour. Eddie Keyes was successful with all five of his conversion kicks.
