Early second half pressure resulted in a converted try to stretch the lead to 10-0, but almost immediately Malone hit back with a converted try of their own, following it up with a similar effort to give them a 17-10 lead. A great run by McBurney led to a second try by Pritchard, which raised the hopes of the Ballymena supporters, but Malone closed out the game with a penalty to win by 20 points to 15.
