Delon Armitage Appeal Hearing Adjourned <\/p>\n
The independent Appeal Hearing convened in London today (Thursday, 8 January 2015) to consider the appeal by Delon Armitage (RC Toulon) against the 12-week suspension imposed on him, has adjourned for the evening.<\/p>\n
The independent Appeal Committee is made up of Prof. Lorne Crerar (Scotland), Chairman, Rod McKenzie (Scotland) and Jean-Noel Couraud (France) and will reconvene tomorrow to determine their decision and issue it to all parties.<\/p>\n
The Appeal Committee heard submissions on behalf of Armitage and on behalf of the EPCR Disciplinary Officer.
\nThe player was accompanied at the hearing by his legal representatives, Mark Milliken-Smith QC and Julian Pike.<\/p>\n
The original independent Disciplinary Committee had found that Armitage had directed abusive language at supporters after his club’s European Rugby Champions Cup match against Leicester Tigers on 7 December 2014 and was therefore guilty of misconduct.<\/p>\n

\nFollowing the withdrawal earlier this week of Simon Thomas (Wales), Jean-Noel Couraud (France) was appointed as his replacement on the independent Appeal Committee.<\/p>\n
Independent Appeal Committee
\na) Following the decision(s) of an independent Disciplinary Committee all parties (the club, player(s), individuals and EPCR) have the right to appeal the decision(s) of the Committee.
\nb) The independent Appeal Committee is chosen by the Chairman of the independent Disciplinary Panel, Professor Lorne Crerar.
\nc) None of the members of the independent Disciplinary Committee which issued the decision(s) being challenged by the appeal may sit on the independent Appeal Committee.
