{"id":78044,"date":"2014-12-12T18:37:23","date_gmt":"2014-12-12T18:37:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/?p=78044"},"modified":"2014-12-12T18:39:33","modified_gmt":"2014-12-12T18:39:33","slug":"past-winners-urge-accies-savour-cup-final-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/past-winners-urge-accies-savour-cup-final-experience\/","title":{"rendered":"Past winners urge Accies to savour cup final experience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Past winners urge Accies to savour cup final experience<\/p>\n<p>Thursday, 11 December 2014<\/p>\n<p>Past winners urge Accies to savour cup final experience thumbnail<br \/>\nHaving celebrated their semi-final victory over Ballyclare, Omagh Accies current first team squad will be hoping to emulate their 1993 counterparts with a win over Instonians in Tuesday\u2019s Junior Cup decider at Ravenhill.<br \/>\nAHEAD of Tuesday&#8217;s Junior Cup final at Ravenhill (or Kingspan Stadium to give it its official name), no-one can argue that Omagh Accies haven&#8217;t earned their place in the showpiece against Instonians.<br \/>\nNot only have Phil Marshall&#8217;s side knocked out last season&#8217;s runners-up Ballyclare, 12-18 away from home in the semi-finals, but they also ousted the holders, Ballynahinch seconds 18-13 in the last eight, defeated fellow Qualifying Two promotion hopefuls Carrickfergus 35-5 before that and eliminated established Qualifying One outfit Ballymoney 32-10 in the opening round.<br \/>\nHaving reached the final the hard way and having continued their unbeaten run in the league on Saturday with a 41-10 win at Lisburn, the Accies would appear to be in rude health ahead of a first appearance at Ulster Rugby HQ in 12 years &#8211; the last time was the 2001\/02 Towns&#8217; Cup final when they beat &#8216;Hinch II 32-26.<br \/>\nThey have to look even further back to find their last winning appearance in the Junior Cup decider, however, way back to the 1992\/93 season when Archie Linnegan&#8217;s side defeated Donaghadee 17-6 to claim the trophy.
