Saturday saw the first game in the Crawford Cup, with Ballymoney 2s travelling to Belfast to take on Academy 2s. In a team showing a few changes already from the last run out, a late call-off from David McKeeman<\/a> gave Gareth McCrea a start in the 7 jersey, a move which only added to the amount of dodgy facial hair on display for the end of Movember.With the 4 mile hike to the pitch to warm up, Ballymoney should have had the cobwebs well and truly blown off by the time kick off came around. But it was a lacklustre opening spell for the visitors, and Academy were contesting well at the breakdown and not allowing the Toon any sustained possession.<\/p>\n

But the forwards worked their way into the game, a few hits and some more commitment to the ruck eventually paying off.
